Rumari — Restaurant in Laguna Beach

what a disappointment! Me and my wife dine for great food all the time and we thought we would try a new spot which I hate to do unless I know its going to be good, taking the risk of ruining you night and hard money is not what I want. The place looked cozy with a great atmosphere and we were welcomed in by a smiling face , the service was average. NOW, the important part , the FOOD. probably the worst food ever! The dry chicken probably cooked hours ago and heated upon order, the taste was horrible , slimy chicken skin with dry chicken cover with sauce to hide old cooked food is how I would describe it. The Pasta tasted like it was under cooked and flavor of the sauce was worse jarred shelf products from a cheap market. After 2 bites we just wanted to leave and did NOT eat our food. We paid the bill and left. On the way way out I think our waiter realized that we were disappointed since we did not eat but 2 bites and informed the lady at front door. She caught up to us and asked multiple times till she got the real answer of our experience. I had tell her . Anyway we spent hard earned monies and a ruined night this why when you find a good spot never veer from it !! I have no idea how this place has...

Food was subpar, and the service was so, so. Ambiance was LOUD!! The worst part was management making it our problem to sort out the bill for a party of 10!!  We all sat there, phone calculators in hand, trying to sort out what each of us owed, instead of enjoying each other's company and raving about the fantastic food and service we had. Once we each figured out what we owed, we were made to let our server know how much we each owed, and which card was to be charged for each order. It is 2024, right? Anyway, we each get our individual checks and each check has a total due, and a "Tip" line saying 20% with a line, as though the customer should full in the blank line, then total, and sign.  Leaving the impression that a tip should be made.  Here's the problem THEY HAD ALREADY ADDED THE 20% TIP, BECAUSE WE WERE A PARTY OF 10!!! Bottom line, subpar food, so-so service, extremely loud ambitious, and very shady business practices, means I will not be returning, and you should avoid this once loved Laguna Beach destination at all costs....

I visited Ristorante Rumari to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had reservations which I would recommend. We arrived a little early to check in but the rest of our party was running late. The staff was relaxed and accommodating. They didn't act annoyed or impatient at all. They sat us and made sure we were comfortable.

The food was good. It was served at a good temperature and didn't take longer than I would have expected. The service was excellent. They were continuously making sure my water glass was full.

The thing that most stands out to me is how they treated my children. Make no mistake, this is an adult restaurant. However, they were so kind to my kids. They talked to them like they were people and offered accommodations before I ever had a chance to ask. They never made me feel like we were out of place. For my part I made sure that my kids were not disrupting the dining of other guest to the best of our ability. I was very worried and I had no reason to be.
