The Coast Inn now on Airbnb-Nightmare on 1401 S Coast Hwy Obviously the Coast Inn is closed, nevertheless the rooms still get rented via Airbnb. My wife and I were thrilled and excited to spend some days at the beach. The pictures, the description, the reviews all looked flawless. We prepaid almost 500 $ for two days. We arrived at the proposed time. All doors were closed, and the placed looked like a resemblance of a crime scene in NYC. Next to the building is a construction site, that is filled and smells like a landfill, the access to the beach is closed. Once we managed to find our way to the apartment, we could not believe our eyes. Everything was covered with rust and dirt. The patio, the lounge chairs the umbrella look like a scenery for a horror movie. Once we managed to enter the rented flat, it was nothing like the pictured implied. In fact, it was a small hotel room filled with poorly cleaned furniture, no possibility to move around. The linen on the bed seemed uncleaned and used for the past ten years. Bathroom tiles are broken. We were trying to get air and tears came down our cheeks. It was not because of crying. The room was soaking in chlorine and breathing was merely impossible. We needed to step out in total disbelieve of anyone being capable to rent such a dump to foreigners unfamiliar with what to do. We traveled all the way from Switzerland to California. We wanted to reach out. David the owner, who presumably travels 365 days a year, referencing what other clients write, referred us to Nick, Daniella and other. We could not get a hold on any of the people responsible. So we moved into a motel in the middle of the night. We reached out to Airbnb. After three days we ended in disbelieve. No one, literally not a single contact was willing to help or offer compensation. In the end, we left Laguna Beach and the USA with a bitter after the test. We just got ripped by a con artist. If you consider to staying at this place, don’t. Moreover, I repeat don`t even consider it.

We booked for our first anniversary. Honestly the room is tiny and old fashioned, which is great. The view from the balcony was even better. Absolutely breathtaking. The reason I gave it a low rating is the person who rented the room to us on Airbnb. He was extremely unwilling to be helpful with a simple request. The showerhead in our bathroom literally sprayed water in every direction except at the person taking a shower. We asked him to replace it as it was basically impossible to take a shower and not only did he refuse, but gave us weak excuses about how it didn't hinder our use of the shower. On top of that there was a dark brown stain on the box under the mattress. While I understand that this isn't a hotel, I feel that cleanliness and a working showerhead are basic things every Airbnb I've ever started at has provided. I would rate 1 star if it wasn't for the gorgeous views and the quaint room.

😍 Is the building old? Yes. So, there's some rust here and there and maybe some spots of peeling paint, BUT..... It's immaculately clean! And the view? Worth every penny! Do be aware the bathroom is super tiny. My husband and I both had to sit sideways to close the door. 😂 So, probably not good for friends traveling together or long stays, but it was perfect for us!

This place really deserves zero stars.

I want to start off by stating I travel often and I am used to staying in a variety of places, but this location was unacceptable.

First of all, the place smells terrible and like it has not been cared for in years. The bathroom is super small, almost to a point of being dangerous. You are touching the sink as you are using the toilet. All of the wires are run under a carpet and plugged into the same extension cord (which is using the only outlet in the room), which is a clear fire hazard. My husband, who is 5´8,´´had his feet hanging off the bed. The paint was chipping off the night stands and other places around the room as well, including the balcony. The carpet felt like it really had not been cleaned in months, if not longer. we tried to communicate with the hotel about these issues, but they never responded. Any photos posted by this owner are fake.

We have reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I am begging anyone traveling to this area to avoid this place at all costs. There are other motels along the same strip (for example The Capri Inn), which are only slightly more expensive, but significantly better. Do not waste your money here and do not compromise the safety of your family. I am truly not sure how this place has any reviews...
