PROS Beach Access: Step out of your room, walk down some stairs, and you're on the beach. Beach: Not crowded, and Capri Laguna puts out chairs and umbrellas. Whales and Dolphins: Get up early and sit out on your balcony, or step down a few stairs to one of the hotel's furnished overlooks. I saw two pods of Killer Whales about 200 yards out, travelling north. (Tip: The rocks and seaweed are not whales.) :) Restaurants: Within walking distance are a few good eateries and coffee shops. Cost: While not cheap, Capri Laguna is considerably cheaper than the surrounding hotels. CONS Old: Capri Laguna is old, and it shows. Do not read "quaint" into that. It's not. It's just old. Maintenance: The maintenance on Capri Laguna is lacking and poorly executed. They could find some stoned surfer dude to do better work than some of the jobs I saw. Slow Internet / Poor Phone Signal: Android, iPhone, or even a Google phone... Slow Internet speeds, and only two bars on your phone, regardless of the brand. Parking: Try to drive a small car here, if possible. Seriously. ... No, seriously. Tight. Poor Design: I'm not being overly critical here when I say that the toilet is too close to the wall. Your room may vary. OVERALL If your goal is to save $1000 to $5000 (or more) for a single week's stay, so that you can enjoy a vacation in beautiful Laguna Beach, California, this is your place.

This outstanding and personal boutique hotel has become my home away from home that I try to visit at least once a year. The location couldn’t be any better. To be able to take your breakfast with you and sit on the patio and take in the ocean view and watch the surfers while you enjoy the amazing Starbucks latte from the hotel is one of the best things in life. The hotel provides an amazing breakfast and have a coffee maker with many options that made us go back for a refill a couple of times. You get the best sleep here as the beds are super comfortable as you fall asleep to the waves crashing outside. But what makes this hotel so special is the fantastic staff and especially general manager Nikolaos who always goes out of his way to make your stay extra special. He is amazing at seeing each guest and taking care of them and leaving a personal welcoming note if you have an anniversary or birthday. It’s always great seeing Bashir and Morgan who greets you with a big smile and warm welcoming ways. It really does feel like a second home that you can’t wait to come back to and that you miss when leaving. I wish everyone had the opportunity to stay here and I can’t recommend this wonderful hotel enough. I left with new amazing memories and I can’t wait to go back!

Where do I begin? After searching a few places around Laguna beach, we came across this place and I decided to wing it as we were close to the trip. Good thing we found it, we reserved the place over the phone with Bachir and it was a simple smooth reservation with all the info I needed. The day of arrival- we get to the hotel, the views were breathtaking. I felt like WOW this doesn’t feel like the US but sure was. Bachir was the at the desk fortunately and he greeted me and my wife and helped us get checked in with the best room and best view. He was able to accommodate my request of a ocean front view without a hassle. Our stay- we stayed there for 7 days and got to explore the area a decent amount. Here and there I got to speak with Bachir in the lobby and he was the nicest person and so informative about the area and restaurants and had good recommendations. The room was perfect for us, the patio/balcony was even more perfect. The room was cleaned daily so it made it feel like home daily. The beach access was right there and so convenient. We never wanted to leave and relax all day and everyday and we did. It was a great and perfect vaca. We can’t wait to be back and oh, the manager nick was great, and someone who has an amazing team. See ya soon Capri.

This was by far the worst hotel we've ever stayed at!! All my husband wanted was a view of the ocean for his birthday, I spent hours trying to find a hotel he would love. I chose Capri because of its ratings on Expedia, Yelp and Google. I chose Capri because it had the balcony, fireplace and view. I paid FULL price for this location and want to warn everyone that its NOT what it appears. Please, consider finding another hotel, spend a hundred more and go to Surf and Sands. I am so disappointed in this hotel and here are the reasons why:

We found a spot to park in when we arrived and the maintenance guys literally wouldn't let us park there because he was 'saving' it for someone else even though we were the only ones there. The other couple were still parked around the corner getting their suitcases out and next to the car was a spot open. But for some reason, he didn't want us there. So we parked in another spot and the same maintenance guy kept shaking his head no and saying you can't park there. And I promise you, it was a vacant, free visitor parking spot. He asked us to move again, AGAIN to their OTHER parking lot and walk to the hotel. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't far but wow, good first impression.

The guy at the front desk told us the wrong direction to our hotel room. This wouldn't be that big of a deal but we had walked about 4 flights of stairs with our luggage to find out by the cleaning ladies (who were super nice btw) that we weren't even near our room. Up 4 flights again and down another 5.

The room smelled and had caked on dust everywhere. I felt like we were given a room they save for those that book on other websites. We used Expedia for the rewards, its not like I didnt pay full price! If this is what all the rooms look like, DAMMM.. lol I am not picky by any means, for real... so when I say it was gross, its GROSS. lol I put towels down on the floors cause I was grossed out on how dirty they were.

When I tried callng the front desk, the phone handle didnt work... so we had to use speaker which you cant really hear out of.

I can get past everything else, even the dusty air, knowing its the beach! lol But, the room itself was terrible. The sheets had those little balls that were rough to sleep on, so, we slept ABOVE the blankets and put our tshirts over the pillowcases because you could tell how old they were. When my husband sat down on the bed, a dust cloud went all over me and the room. LOL... it was bad.

The dresser drawers were open when we came into the room, and they literally wouldn't say closed no matter how many times you shut them. That was annoying since its infront of the walkway.

While the fridge stayed icy cold, the front of it was stained. The sink w wasn't even attached to the counter, the sink wasn't even attached to the counter, when I tried to wash some cups the water backed up in seconds and took an hour to drain, the toilet was loose- so you had to sit down slowly LOL

Every corner was dirty with dust and hair. We kept our sandals on at all times and refused to use the shower. The towel rack and toilet paper holder were loose and rotted.

THE WORST: The ac unit was a joke!!! It was one of the portable kinds that they took a knife and cut a hole out of the wall for but the tubing was too far from the bed so you couldnt feel it. You couldn't really sit in the room without it getting foggy and humid. Couldn't leave the slider open cause there was no screen. If you kept it shut you couldnt see the view cause the glass was fogged up from the AC. Totally waste of time!

We didnt even stay the night! PLS dont waste your money! When I tell you, its not worth it, its NOT. I've stayed at Motel 6's that were...

Disappointing Stay at The Capri Hotel – Great Location, But That’s About It

I recently stayed at The Capri Hotel in Laguna Beach as part of my honeymoon road trip, and unfortunately, this was the most disappointing leg of our journey. While the location is undeniably beautiful — the beach area is stunning, peaceful, and the highlight of our stay — the hotel itself left a lot to be desired.

We spent two lovely days enjoying the beach, but even this wasn’t without its issues. On our first day, we asked the hotel if they had any additional beach chairs, as there were only five available for the entire property. We were told no, which seemed odd given the size of the hotel and the resort fee we were paying. Thankfully, on the second day, two helpful staff members appeared with extra chairs and umbrellas for guests — a small win.

We inquired about upgrading to a sea-view room, hoping for something a bit special for our honeymoon. We were shocked to be quoted $900 for just two nights for a partial sea view — needless to say, we declined.

When we entered our room, we were hit with a musty smell and an overwhelming sense that the place was stuck in the past. It’s in desperate need of renovation. The beds were uncomfortable, the bed linen was scratchy and outdated, and the overall feel of the room was tired. You get a couple of sheets and a fluffy blanket — if it’s hot, be prepared to sweat or try to sleep through the roar of the ancient air conditioning unit.

Breakfast was included in the rate, but after one look, we decided to skip it. California is home to incredible food, and it felt like a waste to settle for subpar offerings just because they were “included.”

Parking is another headache. If you drive, don’t move your car — spots are limited, and once you leave, you’ll likely end up in the overflow lot a block away.

I initially chose this hotel because of its nostalgic charm — it reminded me of Bette Midler in Beaches and I envisioned a romantic, coastal escape. But the reality is, this place is falling apart. It needs a serious investment to bring it up to standard. The charm is there, but so is the decay — and at the price they’re charging, it’s simply not worth it.

Sadly, I wouldn’t stay here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless major updates are made....

Our stay at the Capri Laguna was wonderful. We came to celebrate our sons first birthday and stayed for a week.

We would love to make this place a home away from home when traveling to Laguna area.Let’s start by the positive feedbacks:)

Staff at the front desk ( Morgan, Bashir) were wonderful. I’ve interacted with couple of other employees but , unfortunately didn’t get their names. Morgan and Bashir were both kind and professional. For someone who is in Hospitality /Hotel Management industry recognizing someone who handles situations with care comes as second nature. Morgan and Bashir both displayed that very well.

We came across engineering/maintenance staff couple of times and they didn’t hesitate to offer a helping hand. I think his name was Lewis.

Housekeeping department delivered our towels daily as I opted in to not have service everyday. Ladies always had a smile and very gracious.

We had one issue during our stay but Bashir and the front office staff resolved it with grace.

Here’s Some feedback towards the cleanliness of the room and the laundry facility. Please maintain your laundry room as your guests will be using it if they are extended stay guests. When inspecting rooms after housekeepers cleaned and changed the sheets, please ensure to look for some details that could have been missed while they were cleaning the room. I only took away a star because of this but, I have faith that’ll be addressed and worked on.

Location of the property is fantastic. It’s walkable to beautiful little boutiques and fabulous restaurants. Ralph’s is within walking distance and Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are a short drive away. All and all , we had a great stay. Our room was well appointed. We opted in for a deck level room facing the ocean. Every morning we woke up with the sound of the waves and our son loved it. We enjoyed starting our day on the deck and lounging there at night time as well.

I also recommend booking direct with the hotel because hotel has a great communication with its guests. They answered every question that I had and helped set up a pack and play in our room.

We look forward to our next visit. Keep up the great work guys!! Have an absolute best...
