French Market Donuts — Restaurant in Lake Charles

This is the second time we've tried this place the first time they just opened it wasn't anything special. The kolaches had these big thick slices of jalapeño just sitting inside the bread the hot dog was cold and reminiscent of a "bar s" quality very disappointing also the glaze was overly sweet on the donuts but as I stated they just had "opened". Saturday morning I decided to treat the family and because I was near I said let me give this shop another try. I ordered 4 beignets and 1dz glaze 1 cinnamon roll. The beignets had 1 huge one (raw) and 3 tiny ones i was already irritated how they were so disproportioned, but to then bite into a 1inch cloud of powder sugar and a mouth full of raw dough is wild to me I shldve know because of how heavy it was. The donuts were ok still super sweet and the cinnamon roll is definitely an afterthought. I will say the first time the service was great this time no one looked happy to be there. I may try them again in a year maybe they will have tweaked some things Follow-up: It's been a week since I posted my review mind you I was the first review on this place and instead of addressing their service they massed dropped all 5* reviews all with the exact same verbiage with the emphasis on how good all the things are that my review said weren't. I can't say enough about French Market Donuts. I got there and asked about a king cake and was willing to order for tomorrow but the owner's son who may be the manager (I wasn't sure) told me he could help me this morning if I wanted to wait. Of course I did! They were all so kind and courteous! The cake was filled the way I wanted, iced and even put the Mardi Gras colors on top of the chocolate icing I wanted. I have not had one in 3 years so I was so thrilled that they were able to accommodate me. I have had other food items from there and they are always so good, and fresh. There are no complaints from any of us at my office as we love everything they have. Can't wait to dig in to this one today. If you haven't been there I strongly suggest you go and give them a try. This place is the Bomb. I can't get enough. My kids love it and its out of this world service. Always smiling 😃 and eager to serve you. Been eating Donuts from this place since I was a child and brings back old memories. Now even better than before. I love getting hot fresh donuts everytime I go they just melt in your mouth. The new owners are fantastic and the place is so clean. I recommend this to everyone that loves donuts. Not to mention the kolaches as my kids put it they are "bussin" that means they love them. Only place that i will ever buy donuts from again. We found our to go place. Keep up...
