Ed & Barb's Cream Donuts — Restaurant in Lake City

Well we have lost the best place to get fresh donuts. We have been getting donuts there for years. I would drop off someone at work and wait in the parking lot for them to open. Buying a couple of dozen glazed and chocolate glazed. It was a great treat to get Barb & Ed's donuts. When they sold the business we were sure that the quality & taste was just not going to be there. To our delight we were wrong. Barb & Ed's was living up to there reputation as the best donut place around. We make it a point to enclude a stop to get fresh donuts when we are going to be in Lake City. There was a great sale this past weekend. A 10 cent sale so we included a trip to Barb & Ed's and that's when it happened. Barb & Ed's was no longer the BEST donut place around. They were by far the worst donuts that I have had. For them to have come from there was disappointing. No it wasn't a fluke, because the trip before we had the same bad quality. That was when I thought it was a fluke. Gone are the full size, light as air, full flavor glazed donuts. When we got to our sale and we're getting ready to dig into our treats I was devastated to see these little hockey pucks. They were so bad that we didn't even eat them all. 7 out of 12 went into the trash. Gone was our beloveded Barb & Ed's! Lake City has lost another iconic treasure that would bring you a big smile just knowing that you were going to be stopping in for a treat.

This little gem is located next to rita's steakhouse and they have a drive through, which is a first for me. Due to the fact it's not a chain restaurant, I love that option. This was my first time here and I wanted to get a variety of donuts to try and share with my family. It was clean when I went inside and I was greeted almost instantly. I didn't catch the name of the lovely lady that assisted me with my order, but she had great patience while I decided on my order. She was friendly and professional. The donut I tried was the strawberry cream cheese and it was delicious. I was worried it would be overly sweet like dunkin, but no it was definitely a perfect combination of dough and sweetness!! That is a true sign of homemade goodness. Definitely will come back and let everyone it's...

I only give it a 3 because I'm in the middle on this company. I moved to FL from Michigan and for almost a year now, every now and then I have been going by this place in the mornings and they are never open. I have a favorite donut shop back home with lots of varieties and I was looking for a favorite down here, many people told me this was the spot but I still can't get a donut lol. Sad part is that it's the ONLY donut shop around so really have no choices. They need to open, Who likes eating donuts from a gas station or grocery store? yuck lol. At first I thought they were closed due to covid, but now I'm starting to wonder. I really hope they are not closed down... I NEED...
