Finally tried this place this morning and now I know I wasn't missing much. First and foremost, dogs should not be allowed inside anywhere that serves food & drink. I am a dog lover myself, and the fact that this coffee shop had multiple dogs inside (one that was wearing a diaper!) grossed me out from the get-go. Pushing through the ick factor about the dogs, my husband and I each ordered a coffee. Him - an iced Americano, and me - iced vanilla latte. Our cups to go were slanted and made clasping the lid impossible. The vanilla is house made and honestly I should have known then that it was going to be bad. House made syrups are never good, lack consistency, and tend to taste like water IMO. There were two individuals working at the time of our visit (both of whom hardly acknowledged our presence. The barista never even made eye contact). We left the shop and took our first sips - the shots were thin and under extracted. We ended up throwing these straight into the trash can outside. It's disappointing that few third wave coffee shops provide any customer service and craft delicious drinks anymore. Continuing with this type of experience is going to thrust these businesses into permanently closing and sooner than others. What a shame.
Seriously guys, dogs...
Read moreI visited Rosalind Cafe after hearing a lot of hype about it. The ambiance was definitely a highlight—bright, full of natural light, and welcoming. The staff were super kind and accommodating. One of the baristas went above and beyond by remaking my iced salted caramel latte twice when I mentioned I couldn’t really taste the flavor. He even offered to change my drink completely, which I appreciated.
Eventually, I ended up trying a raspberry matcha, recommended by a fellow customer who overheard I liked sweeter drinks. That was a nice touch and showed the friendly, community vibe here.
That said, the drinks themselves were a bit underwhelming. I had two lattes and a pistachio rose croissant—for a total of $22, I expected something that would at least hit the spot. Unfortunately, the coffee was pretty mid, and the croissant, which I usually enjoy from Nuveri in Portland, didn’t taste nearly as good here. Overall, overpriced and didn’t live up...
Read moreI’m not impressed: the fellow there was overly friendly but the gal was somber and nonreactive; very expensive and I forwent the refill that was $1.50 - are you serious?; the croissant too was expensive and not very good; the music was very uncomfortable to listen to, like they played what they wanted to hear giving no thought to their customers; and to my surprise, when I picked up some of their sticker advertising their store, I was charged $2 each. I was hoping for better but I won’t go back - the Starbucks down the street, though admittedly commercial are not as mercenary. Of course, I drink drip coffee so their other drinks would have ( I can’t see how not) be better...
