Woodgrain Pizzeria seemed to have the best reviews of any food offerings on my recent layover at Midway so even though my gate was in B terminal I had plenty of time to walk to their location in A terminal. The employee that took my order was very nice, and I appreciated that you are not pressed to give a 20% or more tip at checkout like most places. My order was made, and after watching the gal that was preparing pizza, I wasn't too hopeful for a good outcome. She slid the pizza so hard off the board into the oven that half of my pizza slid off and proceeded to smoke and burn in the fired oven. The gal that took my order noticed. She could have looked the other way and let me have a half burned/ half topped pizza, but she didn't. She took it out and threw it away, cleaned up the mess in theoven, and proceeded to make a freshly made pizza for me. She then apologized for the delay and offered to comp me a beverage which I didn't need so I thanked her directly for making me a new pizza and tipped her directly for her efforts cleaning up after the other employee's mess. I didn't catch her name, but if you worked lunch shift on May 21st and see this review, thank you! Your attention to detail and customer service was awesome and will take you places in your future. Pizza was okay for airport food! Airline staff was ordering lunch there, too, and they probably are in the know for best locations to eat from on break in...

I travel frequently through Chicago-Midway and thought I'd try Woodgrain on my recent layover. I understand that my flight was the last departing flight of the evening, but I felt the service was sub-par: the male behind the cash register bemoaned to his coworker that they'd surely not be able to go home before 10:30pm (as I stood there awkwardly, feeling like I was inconveniencing them). This would not have been a big deal, as I work in the hospitality industry and we all have our days. However, I asked if the margherita pizza came with tomatoes and basil, and if I could please order extra--but was told that it just came with marinara sauce and cheese (never mind that the menu stated the ingredients displayed on the wall). When my plain cheese pizza was ready, I requested a side of ranch and was told "sorry, we're out." My pizza came out to $22.34 including tax. I then walked over to Harey Carey's for my side of ranch, and tipped the gentleman who went out of his way for the kind gesture. A little service goes a long way for a weary traveler! Three stars for the pizza because it was delicious and served piping hot--but if you're looking for fresh basil and tomatoes on your margherita this is...

Ordered a five cheese plus Italian sausage(additional $3+). My number was called and the female put the pizza on the counter but didn’t slide it closer. Yes, that’s a small quibble but it IS good customer service. Took the box to a table and opened it and it looked yummy but I couldn’t see the sausage so I poked a place but didn’t feel any sausage so I took it back to the counter and explained to the cashier and he was very nice and said sorry that was the wrong pizza and gave me mine. I moved out of the way and opened the box and saw the sausage and closed the box and went to a table. Opened the box and noticed it wasn’t cut so I asked someone else with the same box if theirs was cut and they said yes, so back to the counter I went. I asked if I could have it cut and the same guy said yes and someone else took it and cut it. As you can see from the picture it was very over cooked and the sauce was spread across the crust. Obviously the qc was not very good, especially at the expo station. The pizza was ok but I would not go out of my way to eat at the...

Pizza was terrible and overpriced. I originally asked for a margarita, they said they don’t have mozzarella nor basil. What sort of self-respecting pizzeria doesn’t have mozzarella or basil!!! Anyways, I settled for a cheese pizza with sausage. Not only was the the pizza a ridiculous $22 for a medium sized pie (no wonder they don’t show the price on the menu board!), but the pizza was terrible. The bottom of the pizza was caked in flour from when they slid it off of the peel into the oven. Every bite just tasted of uncooked flour, and when I finished, my hands looked like I worked in a damn pastry shop. Look at the photo! Terrible pizza all around. This place is an insult to the fine art that is Neapolitan pizza.
