Took a friend there that was in from out of town for a great local coffee shop breakfast. Well....we got rude baristas instead.
The dude that was working had on a muscle shirt which I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to wear while working with food for health code reasons.... And when he made my bagel sandwich wrong and I asked for him to correct it he said "yea you need to specify that next time" with a snarky attitude. I replied that I DID in fact specify what I wanted when I ordered, but perhaps he was too busy talking to the other rude Batista when we walked in to fully pay attention... Or maybe there was too much air on his exposed armpits for him to concentrate.
I could go on but being practically ignored and treated with snarky attitudes by the employees here is the LAST thing I want to deal with pre-coffee and while showing a friend a local chicago business.
I've worked in many cafes over the years and the quickest way to piss off your community and customers is by hiring people with shitty attitudes, you can do...
Read moreI just moved to the area and was given a gift card to this place so I was excited to try it. First couple of times were ok nothing spectacular. Mediocre service, the staff not especially friendly but these days my expectations are so low that it didn’t really phase me. So today stop in to grab a bagel because they make them fresh and are very tasty. I walk in and there’s one person behind the counter making a drink. She never greeted me but finally said I’ll be right with you. She comes over a few minutes later and says “hey”. Ok so I order my bagel and she walked away. Then some guy appears at the cash register doesn’t say a word. Then he walks away. They continue some banter with each other and then my bagel is ready he calls it out I walk over to grab it to say thank you and he tosses it on the counter and walks away. It’s unfortunate that they seem to be so bothered and inconvenienced by customers. I definitely won’t be returning. There are way too many other coffee shops that would gladly take my business and do it...

As a native Chicagoan and college student, this is a huge W. Solid coffee: got the Campfire Cold Brew specialty (love getting the kind of coffee choice that's unique to each coffeeshop). A little pricy for my broke butt but still gives you a caffeinated boost to grind on work (pun intended).
One area of improvement from visiting 30+ coffeeshops all over Chicago: Improve the Wi-Fi reliability and speed: at times, the Wi-Fi dropped here and there. Speeds could improve by consolidating the two Wi-Fi networks available into one central network (shameless plug: would love to help in any way I can with that).
From the personality to the coffee, this unique Dollop coffeeshop is a must-visit!
Caffeinate responsibly, Aviel
P.S. they don't take cash, so...
