Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed a very long line and decided to place a pick-up order so I could sit down and work on some homework while waiting. I ordered directly from the restaurant's website, where they had a list of their best sellers and the daily specials menu. I specifically asked the cook to confirm that the chicken pita was the special of the day, and they confirmed it was. However, when I picked up my order, the cook informed me that I needed to order the special online to receive the sides included in the deal, which were not available as options on the website. I had mentioned in the special instructions that I was dining in and ordering the daily special, which was also specified on the receipt.
Despite this, the cook insisted that I had to order the special online to get the sides. Frustrated, I told the manager about the situation, and after some back and forth, they eventually dishonored the special, giving me a hard time. To make matters worse, I wasn't even given a drink with my order, which was supposed to come with free refills as bare minimumfor their clear mistake. The lack of professionalism and empathy from the staff, as well as their refusal to acknowledge their mistake, left me feeling mistreated and disappointed.
Their refusal to honor the special, despite my clear instructions and the lack of information about daily specials on their website, was unacceptable. The manager then yells from kitchen no specials when order online… so shouldn't that be mentioned online or anywhere next to their pictures of qr codes to order online or rate them. It's unfortunate that they were willing to lose a frequent customer over a small side and a drink. More so behave so unprofessional. I won't be spending another dollar at that restaurant, and I hope others take note of their unreasonable behavior. If you're planning to dine there, make sure to order the daily specials in person to avoid a similar frustrating experience. Bc clearly the staff didn't even know they were wrong informing me I had to order special online option, which none exists on online menu and even me manually putting that in instructions with being there to dine in pick up order as was told I had to do was treated as if I was trying to take advantage and the one literally being robbed and spoke in such fashion. I cleared the table and thanked them again and wish them a good night and snapped the rate them qr code on my way out to kindly share for them their shortcomings and save anyone else the embarrassment and literally robbed from what one pays with hard earned money. Make sure if u continue to be a customer know this and enjoy as many refills on me and those robbed...
Read moreAfter dining at Windy City Gyros on broadway in Chicago we felt compelled to leave a review. My wife and I, are always searching for a great place to dine. Although we make it a point to experience somewhere different each time, it's always nice to have a favorite especially when it's local. In all the 22 years of living in Chicago we constantly struggle to find the whole package, great food, great service and always a warm welcome. Then there it was, a quaint little fast food restaurant. What was truly remarkable was the fact that this restaurant has been around for quite some time, and it was located only several blocks from our home, and though tough to believe that the restaurant that was right under our noses and would be the answer to all our aspirations, quickly becoming our favorite place to dine. Our only disappointment was not discovering this restaurant sooner. I can only depict with little certainty that I will be able to give proper merit to this establishment that undeniably deserves. Here, a meek attempt at best to sum up what I experienced and what anyone can expect To start off this one evening, although the restaurant was busy as we entered, the line moved quickly however leaving just enough time to glance through the menu. An older greek fellow with a most gracious demeanor took our order. Shortly there-after the owner of what seemed to be a family owned business, Steve I believe his name was, personally took time out of his busy agenda to greet us! Unaware of what we were about to feast upon, we most certainly enjoyed the Gyros plate deluxe, the dish was prepared with perfection. The meat was tender and everything was fresh. I am now a big fan. My kudos to the Chef! The whole dinner was at the very least modestly priced. Windy City Gyros now holds our favorite spot for great food. This Greek restaurant seems to hold the secret to what every restaurant strives for " True achievement in every aspect of the industry" Summation: The food & service varied from great to exceptional. This food was in all our Opinions immensely flavorful & brilliantly...
Read moreUsually, a great place. Rating from 5 to 2. I called to place an order for pickup 4 days ago, about 35min prior to arriving there. I was told it will be ready in 10min. Cool. I just needed it to be ready so I could simply pay, grab, and go.
Here's the issue. They had my order written down sitting on the counter, yet it wasn't even done. Literally like an after thought. Nothing on my order had been done. It wasn't until after I paid and was handed a ticket and told to wait about 1min or 2, until they called the number I was given.
Yeah, that turned into a 15min wait for hastily prepared food that wasn't up to their usual quality that I love. All of the chicken breast on pitas that I ordered were tasteless. Even the toasted pitas didn't have the typical quality. The french fries were regular old fries. Nothing special. The entire meal was blah, and ended up half eaten and tossed out. A waste of $29.33 -- very disappointing.
Windy City Gyros is my favourite place for chicken breast on pitas. Been coming here on and off since I was a small child. But this time it definitely wasn't it. I probably won't be ordering anything from here in the afternoon. I'll just stick with coming in the evening on the occassions I do stop by.
I was last here a month ago with the same order, and everything was top notch. Food was just how I remembered it as a child. Excellent. I came in the evening...
