Popped in on a Wednesday night to meet up with my wife and her friend who’s in town. We used to live down the block and considered this place a local hangout. Tonight, I notice this advertisement for Wednesday specials. When I ordered at the bar, the server misheard me—thinking I said “two” instead of the special. So I pointed to the sign and said “one of those.” She rolled here eyes, comes back a few minutes later with my drink and a check for $17.14. When I pointed to the sign again, she said it was only during happy hour, until 7pm. I pointed out the sign didn’t say that. So she said it’s a holiday. I asked what holiday? She rolled her eyes again, and said “if you don’t want it, fine” and dumped the drink without even letting me pay the bill. A few minutes later, she came up to me and my wife to sign a “voided check receipt,” and pointed to the sign saying “it’s a concert night.” I didn’t see any live music, and perplexed asked “what concert?” She said that anytime there’s a show at any of the theaters in the neighborhood—which are frequent—the discounts don’t apply. I told her I didn’t know there was a concert in the neighborhood, and might have changed my order if I’d known the advertised special didn’t apply. She threw up her arms, without taking the receipt back. I would have bought a drink, and I would have tipped, but since she dumped the old fashioned, and refused to take responsibility I’d better not get charged for the drink. I’ve never seen such rude service in this area, no less such blatantly misleading advertising. I’ll tell my friends to consult the local concert schedules before believing anything this place has to...
Read moreIt’s a shame that the waitstaff are completely incompetent and probably the rudest people you’ll ever meet. We go here frequently cause we grew up in the neighborhood and still live here. Every time we go we’re treated with dirty looks, attitude and an overall “stop bothering us what do you want” approach. Last a friend of mine sat down on the patio, I went into let them know we were gonna take a seat out there, not busy at all, Wednesday at 2pm. The bartender, blonde guy with a huge attitude proceeded to yell from the bar after I politely ASKED if we could sit outside cause it was one of the first beautiful days we’ve had in Chicago “I think you already ARE!” Snappy and sarcastic. I couldn’t believe it. No welcome? No we’ll be right out? Nope. Time before that same guy had a huge attitude when I asked about a drink I was ordering, couldn’t bother to help me decide and visibly upset. Beyond rude. Today, my boyfriend and I Sit down, on a work break and the hostess huffed and puffed when we asked if she could clean the leaves off our table? Then the server stares at us when my boyfriend says hi, after that she stares some more expecting us to order drinks now? So we order the drinks and I say “I think we’re ready to put our food order in” I’m on a time crunch and we’re ordering two appetizers, she snarled back “CAN YOU WAIT I GOT LIKE 7 tables” said it as if she couldn’t believe we dare ask her to put a food order in. luckily the manager waited on us after that. Food and drinks are good but over priced and by far the worst staff in the city. Lost a regular customer. Don’t pay to get abused by these incompetent negative and...
Read moreWe arrived at Fat Kats Pizza around 6:30 pm with three kids. Although the restaurant was full inside, we were fine sitting outside since it was around 70 degrees. We placed our order and expected a quick meal. What followed was an absolute nightmare.
At first, everything was okay. But as 20 minutes turned into 30, then 40, the temperature started dropping. By the time we hit an hour of waiting, it was getting cold, and my kids were starting to shiver. No one even bothered to check on us or offer to move us inside—that is, until another family sitting outside was asked if they’d like to move in due to the cold. I had to speak up myself to request the same, despite the fact that my kids were wrapped in blankets from our car because they were freezing.
When we were finally moved inside, they crammed five of us into a tiny booth and we continued waiting. By the hour and a half mark, I saw our pizza come to the window… and then watched in disbelief as the “cook” used his bare hands to pick things off our pizza. When I asked the waitress about it, she casually responded, “Yes, it was just basil.”
Just basil? Completely unacceptable! At that point, I told them we wanted to leave, and they still charged us for drinks and a side salad without any real apology or acknowledgment of how terrible this experience was.
What started as a tolerable evening became one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and avoid Fat Kats Pizza—they clearly don’t care about their customers, especially families with...
