Goldie's Pub — Restaurant in Lake View Township

Closed again today. I hope it's not another loss of bartenders. The staff here is awesome but management/ownership seems to run them off frequently. Used to love singing with Matt and all the events he would host. I've been going to this bar for years, and even though my roommate and I have requested an easily accessible bottle we would pay to enjoy, management won't take requests. I've even bought paper towels at CVS on a busy Friday night because the bar staff can't get proper supplies without owners permission. Even with regulars, the owners don't allow a comp tab for thank you drinks or to help staff build regulars for themselves. I still visit to support the staff but ownership is making it hard to want to support them.

Update: The owner's reponse tells you exactly the type of person they are. If this is how you respond to criticism, can you imagine being an employee and asking for anything? Yikes. As a person who is 18+ years in the industry as a server and bartender, there is usually truth to gossip, especially when it come from previous staff. To reiterate, the staff is amazing and the only reason to even go in. Goldie owns the building with her husband Jerry who I am pretty sure responded. True class act! Thanks for the recommendation. 1 star it is!

Goldie’s is hands down my favorite bar in the area! The staff are always friendly and welcoming, the space is super clean and well maintained, the drink selection is both solid and affordable, and they’re very dog friendly. They’ve got multiple TVs, a projector for big games, darts, and even a pool table!

We even had our engagement party at Goldie’s, and everyone who came couldn’t stop talking about how cool the space was and how amazing the bartender, Claire, was. The owner was also super accommodating and worked with us to make our party a huge success. I used to stop in on my way home from work - not anymore. Within the past month, the vibe is completely different. A few bartenders are suddenly gone (including Matt - the awesome weekend bartender), it's closed more often than open and there are rarely any drink specials. 1 star.

Update after the owner's response: Facts -They do NOT have the best prices around. Period. Also, patrons go for the bartenders/vibe of the place. Matt was a HUGE part of Goldies. I'm sure management had something to do with his departure......
