Guthries Tavern — Restaurant in Lake View Township

This is a pretty neat little place to hang out with friends. They don't have much (or anything) for food, but you're welcomed to order elsewhere and bring it in. I can't comment on the beer because I'm not much of a drinker, but the beer fans I was with seemed pleased.

We chose to play the game Scruples, which is a weird and totally outdated game of moral dilemmas and debate (would you fire a public school teacher under your employ if you found out he was gay?) But we had to leave early because it was like 105 degrees on the back porch area. If I have only one bad thing to say about Guthrie's, it's that they have to do something about air conditioning during the summer.

I went to Guthrie's on Saturday 4/26 around 5:40p for a gathering with some friends. Before I could even find a table I was told by the older guy behind the bar to come talk to him in a corner at which point he accused me of having threatened a customer the week before in his establishment and told me I couldn't drink there. The only problem is I wasn't in the bar the week before and in fact was in a class at the time of the supposed incident. So I was falsely accused and racially profiled because apparently all people of color look alike. I really wanted to like this place given that the concept is brilliant and the drinks are reasonably priced but this bartender was totally inappropriate and WRONG. If you plan to accuse someone of something at least make sure you have the right person and be less blatant about...

Place is was good and close to home but one of the ladies serving drinks was beyond rude. My husband always tells me how awesome the Tito's vodka martinis are delicious. So he finally took me to have one. If the drink menu saids Tito's vodka why is this lady making it with cheap vodka. She came with the drink and my husband told her you didn't put titos vodka and her answer was its all the same and he was like I want vodka not Smirnoff, so she snatched his drink and looked at me and ask me do you want yours with Tito's as well, well yesss and snatch it so hard it spill on the table.
