House of Hunan Chicago - Lincoln Park — Restaurant in Lake View Township

I wish I had read the other reviews before I went here. It's completely overpriced for the quality, it tastes like heated frozen food and it was cold when I got it home. They have turned their dining room into a storage closet and you have to stand in the doorway to order. The man and woman working could care less once they got your money. I returned to pick up my food and the man acknowledged that it was sitting on the counter next to him where I couldn't get to, but he continued to take phone orders instead of just walking it over to me. Finally the woman came over and wanted me to pay for it a second time because she didn't remember me from 10 mins before. When I said the guy should have helped his customer in front of him instead of on the phone she cut me off and said "yeah his fault" and started talking to the guy behind me! Such BAD customer service. I will not be back. ** UPDATE: When I reviewed my credit card transactions later I discovered House of Hunan added a charge that was not on my receipt and I did not authorize. I had to contact my credit card company to remove it. Beware this...

I am rating them a 2 star for the horrible service. My coworker and I ordered from the lunch special. When I received my order I realized that I have been over charged for something I made no request to have. there was "Extra Beef" inside the veggie plate of egg foo young so I called and informed House of Hunan of the mistake. I have spoken with a woman on the phone and she had decided to credit me back the extra charge and less than a minute she called me back and was beyond argumentive and tried to inform me that I was wrong of what I ordered when I made it beyond clear that I didn't want any meat at all inside the veggie plate I am surprised by the service that I received after she handle it very professional the first time and I am disappointed and will not be ordering...

The good: clean and updated restaurant, servers speak fluent English, quick service, pretty plating, portion size of entree. The bad: not particularly sociable servers, the food is fine, but by far not my favorite Chinese in the area, plus it’s twice as expensive, and the rice portions are laughable. Two entrees and a single cup of soup ran us $40 (PLUS tip). I could go to Chen’s down the street and get two entrees, an appetizer, soup, and dessert for under $30. Sure, you’re talking dine-in vs takeout, but overall it just reminded me that maybe my other options are the better ones. Take it for what you will, worth the try, but nothing memorable or worth going out for again. They do have quite a sushi menu if that’s your thing, that may be a big part of...
