If you're in the mood for some sushi in the Boystown area, this is not the place to have it. There are definitely other options that you should go for.
The place is usually fairly empty, which should set some of my alarm bells going. Nonetheless, my wife and I decided to give this place a shot, after all, every place does.
The tempura was unlike any tempura I had ever eaten in my life. It was thick, heavy, oily and greasy. The color was all wrong. It looked more like something that had been fried in KFC instead of a Japanese kitchen. Not a great start to the meal.
Then our makis came and it was more of the same story. It did not taste authentic at all. The rice tasted bland and the ingredients did not taste fresh at all. Overall, each bite was worse than the previous one. The sauces in the maki also tasted weird and unnatural. The only redeeming aspect was that the wasabi and ginger tasted like it should. So that was used fairly extensively during my meal to mask the taste of the maki.
It's not exactly a cheap place as well so for that kind of price, for that quality of food, you would be much happier and satisfied...
Read moreTHIS PLACE IS THE MOST UNDERRATED RAMEN RESTAURANT IN ALL OF CHICAGO!!!
Where do I even start. This is by far one of the best ramen places in all of Chicago. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted immediately. We were asked where we wanted to sit. We chose where we wanted to sit and then scanned the menu. It was an immediate choice for me and my guest. I got the Tonkotsu ramen and my guest had the teriyaki salmon. The ramen was AMAZING. It was creamy and delicious. The egg was subpar. And the teriyaki was great. The salad was delightful. The dressing was perfect. The service was impeccable. The woman who served us was soo nice and brought us our food and drink fast. Last of all, the atmosphere was great. It felt subdued and quiet, therefore;it is a perfect place to chill out with friends or family. The music was great and smooth and mellow.
P.s. it is very cheap, the whole meal + 2 sprites was 40$.
Definitely A 10/10...
Read moreSkip the sushi, come for the ramen. Their sushi menu, while extensive, is your typical run of the mill sushi fare. It's decent and should only be ordered if you're truly craving sushi and not expecting authentic high quality rolls.
DO order their ramen, especially their Spicy Miso Ramen. On a bone chilling winter's day or night, and when your sinuses are clogged, this soup will be the cure to your winter misery. Delicious and just enough spice to open up your sinuses but not make you cry. Their Tonkotsu Ramen, Shoyu Ramen and traditional Miso Ramen are also recommended. The portion is pretty good to...
