Over all a great spot, good prices, and really good food. First my negative: ordered a side of beans, hijole frijole so much SALT in them. Seriously couldn't eat them. My neutral: the guacamole was good but it needed lime or something, good portion, at a good price just a bit bland
My positives: The staff were so nice, it's a great small neighborhood spot. My partner got a torta with asada. Smashed it- he said the bread was really fresh and good. Their asada is so flavorful too. I got a cauliflower taco- really fat and loaded, good flavor (minus the beans), a quesadilla (so cheesy stuffed), taco asada the meat was seriously some of the best I've had. Took home half of the quesadilla, and an al pastor taco I ordered. I wasn't expecting the tacos to be stuffed with that much meat. They were really really good. Also even though I did not love the guacamole, the chips that it came with were super fresh. Also they're hot sauce, the green one is the rain amount of spicy, and the red one it has a little bit of a smokey flavor it's super mild but it's just enough of a hint of something.
Overall super solid food, if I ordered the guac I would just ask for extra limes on the side, and then the beans I would skip. But the tacos were amazing. They were out of Lengua so hopefully next time I'll be able...
Read moreSo I ordered 2 burritos and to my surprise I was told the total was like 32 dollars, I was shocked and assumed it was just another Mexican restaurant succumbed to gentrification and raised their prices to better appeal to their new base customers. I’ve been used to the $10 burritos although that’s not the case anymore. Once there I saw them cooking actual skirt steak instead of cheap steak everyone uses nowadays and it raised my eyebrows and once I saw the size of it was shocked as those burrito sizes were the norm 15 yrs ago but are now practically nonexistent as they are basically a bigger taco made out flour tortillas. Once I took a bite of my burrito I was shocked , damn $15 dollars is a great price for this ! Quality over quantity but I got both. The steak had that nice charred flavor that Mexican carne asada should have. I loved it and so did my fellow coworker. Only thing is it didn’t come with cream or cheese but I can always order it if want although every bite was meaty goodness maybe I don’t need it to better enjoy the...
Read moreWhat they have to start with is good but there is room for improvement. If they can improve, they will be a standout. The steak is a bit tough and could use more tenderizing. Flavor is great, but tastes a bit boiled and lacks sear. Barbacoa is pretty standard but for some reason, and not a fault of theirs, steamed, taqueria barbacoa differs from real, braised barbacoa that is made with various spices. Nevertheless, it's more tender than the asada and a better choice. Guacamole was nice, didn't seem to be any dairy added (a plus for some) as sometimes crema is added to keep it from browning 🤫. The fish disappoints, it it fried, dry and bland. Grilling would be a better option and more seasoning can be added. Overall, food is dependable and needing improvement. Seating and atmosphere reminds one of an old hot dog joint (it was previously one for decades) with wood paneling adorning the walls and stiff, stationary tables...
