The Western Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Lake View Township

Oh my God. Just ate at The Western Bar on Western. If this is what bar food is now, everyone else needs to shut down immediately. It’s over. They won.

There are only a few items on the menu but damn they do it right. We got the burgers, prawns, and buffalo wings. Every bite hit like it was trying to prove a point. The burger showed up with zero small talk. No frills, just flavor and a slap in the face. Prawns were borderline disrespectful. Juicy, crispy, arrogant little things. The wings? I saw God. Twice. Then I had to sit in silence and reevaluate everything.

New restaurants are supposed to be chaotic in a cute way. You forgive the food missing a gear because they're new. This place said no. We’re fully formed and slightly dangerous.

We visited the Western for the first time on Friday and liked it so much we made plans to visit again with some neighbors on Sunday. The space is large but well used with plenty of high-tops and bar seating. Service is kind and attentive. I can’t think of any other spots that do tex-mex inspired cuisine this well in the area. The ambiance is incredible from the lighting to the wall hangings down to the perfectly curated playlist. A good place to bring a group of friends to talk the night away. Our table ordered a variety of things and each was unique and expertly crafted. My favorite was the salad which came with a lime vinaigrette that was TO DIE FOR.
