Taco Maya — Restaurant in Lake View Township

I want to give this spot a 3.5 star but there isn't so settling for a 4 star.

I have driven by so many times and noticed it on Ashland but never tried it. They had a board saying $1 taco Mondays so that got me in.

Very clean place and plenty of space to sit. Sadly the day we went, their heater wasn't working as it was being repaired so they were only doing take out.

The $1 taco is only the samosa taco which by the way is EPIC. I know I'm not a fan of fusion food (I'm trying to better understand lately why and what about it I don't like so much............or do I?). Absolutely LOVED that taco. A FANTASTIC way of getting people to come in.

They have a big fusion menu where India meets Mexico.

We ordered two samosa tacos and a paneer fajita.

What was fantastic about this location was that they have a self serve salsa station where they have I think 5 or 6 different kinds of salsas.

We really liked the fajitas but there were two things that were a slight miss on it.

a. The avocados were slightly less fresh. Had started getting that weird taste.

b. The paneer was not quite fresh. It wasn't soft and succulent (wasn't rock hard either).

Other than these 2 things, I think it's a great place to go for a weeknight quick meal.

OMG!!! So good!!! Was close by and needed a quick bite and this place blew me away. It’s counter service but upgraded. You order at the counter and they bring out your food and then check up on you too to make sure all is good. Nice vegetarian options. Very fresh!!! They bring you warm chips and warm fresh salsa that was so tasty. They also have a salsa bar with a variety of yummy salsas. The burritos were grilled to perfection and big enough to be filling but not so big, that you have to unhinge your jaw to eat them. The young man who took my order, and checked up on me was very welcoming, friendly, and seemed to genuinely care about my experience. For a casual spot it is definitely a class act. A couple days ago I ordered the filet steak tacos and let me say, I finally found the perfect Mexican spot and tacos! This place is by far my favorite and will definitely be seeing more from me. The chef added chips and salsa (his recipe) on the house with a cute little note on the to go box. They hooked it up with another horchata for free. I was blown away by not only the taste but the service and efficiency! My boyfriend and I were like wow the whole time we ate. The rice and beans were perfect flavor and the rice was more than enough, not skimped of anything. Great portions and well worth the price! Taco Maya is it! They made it for sure. Bravo!!!!
