Food was delicious but my rating is tarnished due to the poor service. I came in, hostess was a young girl, polite. I told her I was waiting for my friend and wanted to sit on the patio. Since there were no tables available, I asked if I could wait by the bar, she told me I could and I sat for 2 minutes before I was brought a glass of water and cutlery. I told the waiter I was just waiting. I was grateful for the water and considered ordering a coffee. Before I could do that, the hostess came to me and asked me to leave the bar and wait outside. When I asked her why, she said that’s what she was told to tell me by management. I felt embarrassed and unwelcome. I received no other reason. There were no COVID protocols in place, so I don’t see how this would have been the only protocol. After waiting outside for 15 minutes, she came back to me and only then placed me on a waiting list. I asked her if I could get the table even though my friend was not there yet. She said she’ll let me know when one becomes available. Right as my friend arrived, there was a family of 3 going to the host, who was an older man (believed to be the manager, as per previous reviews). They were escorted to the patio and seated right away. Obviously there had been open tables on the patio. Finally, he comes back and seats us as well, in a corner, by a parked car.
As mentioned, the food was great, once it finally arrived. It took a very long time to get our order in. The waiter was nowhere to be seen after bringing us our drinks. When asking for the bill, we were told on an assertive tone that they do not do separate checks.
Overall, I was not happy with the service at all, but because I liked the food, I will return to a...
Read moreMy young kids and I had a great breakfast at Breakfast House the other day. We've tried several places around the neighborhood, but this is the one they still talk about.
Being fairly early in the morning, we were able to be seated quickly, but the place quickly filled up. Since it was a nice day, we sat on the patio, which was pleasant. But being right off a busy street, the traffic was very noisy, and there were people constantly coming and going to the dry cleaners across the street. The inside was a typical local diner setup with a lot of tables. Nothing fancy, but looked well finished, clean and efficient for when the crowds come on the weekend.
The staff were very friendly, and took the time to chat with us and check in from time to time to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our meals.
Our food arrived quickly, and was very fresh. We shared the chocolate chip pancakes, the vanilla waffle and the fruit plate, which were all from the regular menu. The pancake and waffle dishes were good portions, but while the fruit plate was fresh, it was pricey for the quantity. That said, we were all full but still had some leftovers. While the kids menu had some fun choices, I do wish there were a few more alternatives for them to choose from (for instance, there was no waffle option, and only one pancake option).
In all, a great meal in a relaxed environment. It's nice to know that it's a locally-owned chain that takes pride in serving good food. I can see why it's so popular, and we'll...
Read moreI ride past this place all the time and decided to try it. Terrible mistake. The service was LOUSY! Upon entry I was told to sit wherever I like. After taking my seat the Mexican lady server with the glasses came and brought my menu and water. After several minutes she never came to take my order. I made eye contact with the hostess guy and he came and took my order. The lady with the glasses brought my food out. I asked her for more napkins. She said ok. She then walked past me with another order, after she served that order she went and stood near the bar. I had to get her attention and she "pretended" as if she had forgotten. She brought me 2 napkins. These weren't high quality napkins. She NEVER came and checked on me, I saw her constantly checking on other tables where the customers were white. I was the only African American in the place. The host guy came and half ass asked if everything was OK? This place is not for black people they cater to white people. My food was ok. I had the ham,egg and cheese croissant and potatoes. I didn't leave a tip. I felt so INSULTED! I will not be returning and I will make sure to let my friends and family know to skip this place. There are so many other great...
