First time having Fat Shallot. I've always wanted to try it but never got around to it. Tonight we went and was greeted by the cashier who was very nice. They don't have the prices on the board, but on the actual menu (I didn't realize this until I already ordered), I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and the truffle fries. The chicken pesto is like any other chicken pesto you've already had ( which could be a good or a bad thing) they added artichokes, which was different.
I will say the chicken was dry but not so dry it was hard to chew. The pesto was good, not salty, and they ran out of cibatta bread, which could have made a difference (they instead had sourdough bread, which I love, so I didn't complain). Overall, the sandwich was about a 6/10 nothing to write home about but gets the job done if you're hungry. The fries were perfectly crispy, and the truffle aioli was delicious and creamy.
Fries were 10/10. I definitely recommend the fries with truffle aioli. I want to go again and see if the cibatta bread would make a difference with the difference in texture and density of cibatta and hopefully get juicer chicken. I would also like to try all the other sandwiches. However, it seems as though the Buffalo chicken might be the best on the menu.
my sister had it and said it was juicy and the spice was perfect. She's a chicken conissure, so if she says it's good, it's most...
Read moreI visited Fat Shallot in Lincoln Park and gave it 3 out of 5 stars. I ordered the BLT, the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, and the bacon potato salad.
BLT: The bacon was too hard and chewy, and it took away from the overall flavor of the sandwich. The truffle aioli was a nice touch, but it wasn't enough to save the sandwich.
Buffalo Chicken Sandwich: This was the highlight of my meal. The chicken was crispy and juicy, and the buffalo sauce was flavorful and not too spicy. The bread was also toasted to perfection. However, the sandwich fell apart as soon as I picked it up, which was a bit messy.
Bacon Potato Salad: This was also good. The bacon was cooked perfectly, and the potato salad was creamy and flavorful. I appreciated the bits of pickles in the potato salad.
Overall, I had a mixed experience at Fat Shallot. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was very good, but the BLT was disappointing. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was casual and relaxed.
Here are some suggestions for Fat Shallot:
Use softer bacon in the BLT
Find a way to keep the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich from falling apart
Overall, I would recommend Fat Shallot to people who are looking for a casual place to get a good sandwich. However, I would recommend the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich...

It's in a decent location, especially if you're walking. It might be a little bit of trouble if you're parking and maybe have to hunt for it.
--------------------FOOD: 2/5-------------------
I ordered the truffle fries and the Buffalo chicken sandwich.
Truffle fries: I was disappointed that the truffle was saucey and not like a seasoning.
Buffalo chicken sandwich: huge! And also very good.
Don't get the slushy -- brain freeze lol and it was very strong and pricey for the size.
-------------------SERVICE: 4/5------------------
We initially had to wait because the machine for the cook to receive the paper was broken. Other than that, we had minimal interaction because we were the only ones.
-----------------ATMOSPHERE: 4/5---------------
Music was loud for no reason.
--------------------PRICE: 4/5--------------------
Price was fair for what I got. Although, the slushy was a bit expensive for the size at $10
OVERALL: 3.0/5.0===========
I've been saving this place for their truffle fries since I'm a huge truffle fries fan, but I won't get it again.
I'd love to try their...
