Lake Wales Family Restaurant. — Restaurant in Lake Wales

I called in a large order for take out at 12:30 pm for at 10:10 am. I was told by the woman who took my order due to the size of this order we would need to pay ahead before they make the food. I informed her the person who is paying is currently not with me so I would let them know to call in and pay as soon as I get off the phone with them. She stated that was ok, we got off the phone at 10:16 am and I informed my friend who would be paying to call so the order can be paid for so they can make the food. When my friend called me back at 10:29 am she told me she spoke to someone who stated the 13 meals I placed an order for were already ready to be picked up, she paid for the meals but let the man know we were informed the order would not even be done until it was paid for and that this was for pick up of 12:30 pm. After being yelled at by this man I called to see if a new order could be made as I did say pick up for 12:30 pm and we were told we would have to pay before the order is made and it is 10:30 in the morning; who would be eating lunch at 10:30 in the morning? When someone answered the phone it was a man who claims he was the manager/owner. This man already had an attitude stating I was more than welcome to pick up the food at 12:30 pm but it will be cold as it is ready now. When I explained to him at least a dozen times that I called in the order for 12:30 pm he did not want to hear it and accept that a mistake has been made and refused to re-make the food for 12:30 pm. After he flat out refused to re-make the food I asked for a refund to which he refused as well stating they were never informed of a pick up time. I again told him I did state a pick up time and I apologized the woman who took my order did not hear the pick up time that I told her. After minutes of getting nowhere I ended the phone call; unfortunately due to the lack of customer service I will no longer be returning to this establishment. For true customer service I would recommend The Lake Wales Cheese Shoppe and Deli, Market Cafe, or any of the other wonderful family owned restaurants...

My daughter and her husband went on an anniversary cruise, so I went over to Lake Wales to see if the "kids" had destroyed the house. As it ended up I took my 3 grand daughters out to lunch at Lake Wales Family Restaurant. They are all teenagers; from 14-18. LWFR was a great choice. 3 kids and an old man all had prompt service and a very good meal! In a former life, it seems to have been a Denny's sort of franchise. But as good local dinners only can do; they outshine Denny's by far and wide. It's the sort of place, were you new to town or traveling thru, that you would thank your lucky stars to have found. It's not 5 star. It's not fancy. Just a great busy local dinner, which says a lot in my book. Food quality is good. It amounted to 2 hamburgers, a chicken nuggets, my Reuben, and a burger to go for Gram. Bill was about $84 w tip as I recall. So it is well priced for local, but I wouldn't call it expensive as 14 was tip. 5 meals for $70ish and no complaints at all works for me. I've been there 4 or 5 times in the last say 4 years and it has been consistent. Service was very good and that from a very busy waitress, whose name i wish I could recall. But this was about the grands. They are busy enough that we took one of the last two parking spots. But with people coming and going it seemed to work out for having gotten there just a little after high noon. We had to wait for maybe 10-15 minutes at rush hour, but it went quickly. Crowd was a mix of an older crowd and working folks. The grands were probably the youngest. Tables are a little close, but noise levels were ok for the number of folks there enjoying lunch. Overall, LWFR is a highly recommended local jewel! And in case you were wondering, the house was fine, teen...

You won't find a better friendlier fabulous inexpensive restaurant in the lake Wales area. Treat you like family, personally visit atleast 3-4 times a week. Even if it's to meat friends for just coffee. Never a empty cup of Joe. IMO Michael and Amber(servers) are the best. The rest are great also,just happen to be my favorite. Owners are there and doing there job also. Husband Frank really makes you you know how much he appreciates your business stops by tables to make sure everything is great. Wife is the greeter,first person to see and always very well dresses to represent there business. Very clean inside at all times. If I could give this establishment 10 stars I would. Mornings around 10 am are very busy but you are still seated in a very timely manner. Longest I've ever waited to be seated has been about 10 minutes. Very community oriented restaurant. Has done some very kind much appreciated things for our children and families. Just can't say enough good things. I highly recommend this to any body passing through Lake Wales or any residents. One more thing employees seem very happy working here and treat you as if you really do matter to them....
