I’ll give two stars because the food is decent. But this place is always understaffed and the servers often can’t get the orders correct. Part of the experience you expect when going to a restaurant is also good service.
I came there with my father in law, wife, and 2 children. We explicitly mentioned we wanted sushi as an appetizer and the server even repeated it back that way. Eventually we could see the sushi sitting there ready. We joked about going up and getting it ourselves because it had been at least 10 or 15 minutes.
A woman other than our server brought out the food along with the sushi. We explained we wanted the sushi as an appetizer and the woman asked “so you don’t want this?”, and after we said again, “we wanted it as an appetizer”, she stormed away with the sushi and aggressively threw it in the bus bin (10 feet away from us) mumbling under her breath.
This type of behavior should never be exhibited in front of customers. This is extremely unprofessional and it made the entire situation awkward and uncomfortable for us.
I must say she came back later and made an attempt at apologizing, and explained that we should have asked for it that way. The point is we did ask for it that way and the server even acknowledged it when she read the order back to us. Under no circumstances should she come back and do a half apology and then try to guilt trip us that we didn’t ask for it that way.
On a different occasion we didn’t get our waters that we ordered till after the meal came out. That’s because we never saw the server the entire time from the time we ordered until the food came out.
One other time, we walked in and stood at the front for about 5 - 7 minutes without being greeted or acknowledged. They were extremely busy and since we already know they are understaffed, we walked out.
I’m not saying don’t go but there are people there who have a short temper and others who won’t own their mistakes. Also be prepared for understaffed, long waits, and sometimes incorrect orders. I personally won’t go back anytime soon because of too many incidents. Maybe I’ll give it another go in about a...
Read moreI was suggested to try this place by a friend at work. My wife and I were out for our anniversary dinner, originally tried to eat at another place, but couldn't get a reservation. So we thought sushi sounded good and gave it a shot. The place was fairly busy, I see that there are many great reviews, so I hate to be one to give a bad review. I'm honestly hard to disappoint, but I believe our experience was very bad. We sat at the bar, it was cool set up as a fish tank. Ordered a few drinks and I got the samurai roll to start my wife ordered Tuna on fire. It didn't take too long for our food to get to us, I understand making rolls takes time and we are use to this. Soon as I started on my plate I noticed the fish on top was slimy looking and had some strange yellow spots. Maybe from bad preparation, I don't know because I've never seen anything like it the many times I've eaten sushi. I really was uncomfortable to eat it because of the look alone, the roll was cut very inconsistent. It was very large and the cuts were thin to extremely thick, looked as if I would have trouble eating a bite. Again, I felt uncomfortable eating this roll just because of the condition it was in on the plate. I tried one of the smaller slices, immediately I felt even worse about my decision because it was room temperature. If there is only one thing I need from eating raw fish, it's must be cold, extremely cold. The roll seemed to be mostly a krab salad in the center, that may have been my mistake from misreading the description. I was very unimpressed and due to the condition I couldn't eat anymore. My wife's roll came out cooked, I'm not sure if that is the plan for this roll, but it was basically like eating potato chips. We finished her roll because we knew it was completely cooked and no worry about the fish inside. The bartender seen I wasn't happy, I don't like to fuss over bad food, I'll politely pay for my meal and leave. She offered to buy me a beer, I drank the beer and we paid our bill and left. Again I hate to put a bad review for a place that seems so highly recommend, but this was...
Read moreWent to dinner this evening with my wife and father. We ordered hibachi, drinks, and appetizers. I told the server on multiple occasions that I can't consume gluten. This is not a preference, but an allergy, as I have celiac disease. My dad and I planned on sharing three sushi rolls in addition to what was already ordered. I placed the sushi order, and reminded the server once again that I am allergic to gluten, and whatever changes would need to be made to the rolls would be fine.
When the sushi arrived, we began eating, and I noticed there was battered and fried fish on one of the sushi rolls, which contains gluten. I asked the server to confirm with the kitchen that this contained gluten, and when he returned, he informed that no accommodations had been made, and that all three sushi rolls contained gluten.
As we awaited the remake, I was informed that because we had already started eating the sushi, I would be charged for the remake, but that they would take off one of the rolls, and offer a discount. I was kind of taken back by this, as we had only wanted to share three rolls, but were now unable to because of their mistake. Also, had I not been the one to point this out, I would have consumed three allergy containing rolls.
My father and I are non-confrontational, so we said it was no problem. I guess the alternative would be to let them throw away the rest of the sushi they made incorrectly we had already started?
Regardless, I was disappointed to see our bill, which was now $136, and contained the original three rolls they made incorrectly, plus the following three rolls they had to remake. Having a food allergy, I would hope for a little more concern from the staff when paying to eat somewhere. And at the very least, not have a restaurant make this mistake, then charge us double for it, just for us to take home raw fish as leftovers. Again, we had simply wanted to just share three rolls. Not order six, and take home...
