Hollis Garden in Lakeland, FL is an absolute gem that will leave you enchanted with its natural beauty and tranquil ambiance. As a nature lover, I was thrilled to visit this exquisite botanical garden, and it exceeded all my expectations.
From the moment I stepped foot into Hollis Garden, I was captivated by its meticulously designed landscape. The garden is a symphony of colors, featuring a stunning array of vibrant flowers, lush greenery, and beautifully manicured lawns. Every corner seems to have been carefully crafted to offer a feast for the eyes.
One of the highlights of my visit was strolling along the winding pathways that lead to hidden treasures within the garden. Every turn revealed a new breathtaking vista, whether it was the cascading waterfalls, the charming bridges, or the serene ponds adorned with water lilies. It felt like stepping into a fairytale land where nature and art seamlessly merge.
The attention to detail in maintaining the garden is commendable. The staff takes great pride in their work, and it shows. The flowerbeds are immaculate, the sculptures are well-preserved, and the entire garden is kept clean and tidy. It's evident that the team behind Hollis Garden puts in a tremendous amount of effort to create an unforgettable experience for visitors.
Apart from its visual appeal, Hollis Garden offers a sense of tranquility and serenity that is hard to find in today's busy world. Read moreA very nice, small, formal garden next to a lake and open lawn areas. A splash park for children is next door and the most amazing roses I have seen surrounding the "Magnolia Building "which is directly next to Hollis Gardens. I go often just to see the roses.
There is a small cafe at the magnolia bldg. and there are many downtown eateries close by. Great garden for a short stroll. There is no fee to enter.
Public bathrooms are next to the splash park and not well marked, so look for the two-story building beyond the play area / water park.
The kids love the water features and fun looking playground equipment. The nice lawn going down to the lake where the town holds some events gives a good open feel.
The garden has a variety of plants including many Tropicals and some vegetables. Each little area has its own theme, surrounded by boxwood hedging. A fountain runs down toward the lake from a large half circle pergola / pavilion. This area is highest point and the garden and gives you an overlook at the areas you can explore working your way down to the lake. There are several artworks in the gardens and on occasion we have gone into the Magnolia Bldg. for little art shows, etc.
Drive or walk south to Morton Lake to see a great many waterfowl. Swans, black...
Read moreI recently visited a garden that offered a delightful experience. The vibrant murals featuring butterflies, with flowers such as milkweed depicted in the artwork, added a burst of color and artistry to the surroundings. The garden is free to the public, which makes it an accessible spot for everyone to enjoy. There are some shaded areas, providing relief from the sun, making the visit comfortable even on warmer days.
In addition to the murals, I came across various plants and aquatic life. The garden had lush green grass and a koi pond with beautiful fish, enhancing the tranquil environment. I also found an interesting snail shell during my visit, adding to the overall charm of exploring nature.
The entire garden can be explored in about thirty minutes, which is perfect for a quick yet refreshing escape. For convenience, there is a public bathroom available at the bistro on the property, ensuring that visitors have necessary amenities close at hand.
Overall, it was a wonderful visit, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a brief, enjoyable...
