I remember the first time I went to Molly's. It must of been ten or so years ago and I had met my Boss their for a beer. I got to the place and when I walked in felt like I was instintly transported to some Europen pub. Me and the boss had a couple of beers then he said we needed to step it up and have a Car Bomb. I had never had one and didn't know what it was. He said "I'm buying so don't ask questions and just drink it", To which I replied "...OK". The drinks came and it turned out to be a 3/4 full, glass of Guieness with a combined shot of Bailys and Jameson next to it. The boss said "watch" as he gently dropped the shot into the glass and downed the whole concoction at once. After he belched he turned and said " you have to drink all at once or you'll ruin it and I'll tell everyone at work that your a girl" to which I relpied "...OK". So I mimicked what the boss had done and got it all down at once. It was awesome, it tasted like chocolate milk. Anyway that was a good time and since I have become a periodic vister to Molly's. I have never not enjoyed myself their. The Bartenters are awesome and atomsphere is very Irisih puby and great. Often me and some friends will go have some beers, play some pool then walk down to Evolution Records and catch a show. In addition to Evolution its located within crawling distance of the Hookah Palace, Black and Brew, The Chop Shop and loads of other downtown Lakeland bars and eateries....
Read moreIn our ongoing tour of Irish Pubs in Central Florida, we visited Molly McHugh’s, a gem of a pub. Walking up, you get the vibe with green pain, a map of Ireland on the outside wall and the sound of laughter, music and conversation drifting out. Walking in and you are in Ireland. Beer and pub signs everywhere. Home feeling paintings and trinkets everywhere and a massive bar and liquor wall behind the bar. They have a nice selection of Irish whiskey (the standards like Jamieson with some other better off brands). Nice beer and above all, friendly conversation. They also have live music in the side room, which I know has to be good, this is a place we will be sure to come...
Read moreGood old-fashioned Irish pub. The keep knew how to poor the perfect pint. The atmosphere was nice. There was a pool table and a dart arcade game. They are on top of each other, so both can not be done at the same time. The food options were.....lol. We were told they are friendly with the neighbors and could bring outside food in. We happened to be there while a large family was there. We were graced with the amazing talent of a young lady irish step dancing. This place could be 5 stars very easily. Find some that can cook and open that kitchen. Amazing Irish food, drink, and entertainment. What else could...
