The Wine Garden — Restaurant in Lakeland

The wine garden in thought is a beautiful addition to lakelands ever-growing drinking scene.

However, as a wine enthusiast this place is more expensive than it really should be. A glass of red wine from their menu can go from $16-35. They have a retail section with a range of bottles starting as low as $20, which seems like the move considerably. However, there is a $25 corkage fee on top of purchasing a bottle in their own facility. I have been everyone from Spain to New York and never known a facility to charge a corkage fee within their own establishment, it’s a bit awkward especially because there is no menu for the retail store. They brag a small markup in retail price, but that doesn’t really mean anything with the awkward corkage fee.

Look, this place has potential. But Lakeland establishments always do weird things like this. Please just get a menu for your retail store, raise the price to include corkage fee or just don’t have one, and be proud to be lakelands finest wine bar.

Aside from that, service was nice although a bit wooden and awkward. Food (cheese and charcuterie) is way better priced than the drinks (about $7-8 for 2oz of cheese or meat).

Awesome atmosphere! My guest & I had a glass of the same wine @ $11 a glass. You wouldn't know they sold it by the bottle unless you ask. It's $17 for the bottle plus a $25 cork fee. Never heard of a cork fee at a wine store. The bottle prices are awesome! Wines from around the world and great quality! Plenty of places to get wine by the glass but with the awesome decor inside & out this would be a great place to enjoy a bottle! Did I mention the cheeses & meats! My local Kiwanis Club was having a social at the Wine Garden. I didn’t know what it was. As a non drinker I was pleasantly surprised to see some yummy retail offerings, so I got some black pepper crackers and some pâté de compagne. I enjoyed them at home later. Delicious.
