WOW! We've been the Black Eyed Pea after church many times. This was our worst experience ever! We thought it was going to be a great time because we got seated almost immediately upon arriving. That's so unusual on a Sunday, 10 minutes before noon. Our waiter kept putting off our order saying he'll be right back. By the time we put our entree order in (20 min later) he had already messed up three items, bread (requested honey), my drink (diet coke with ice, ordered without ice), mom's drink (brought iced tea, ordered hot tea). We did eat three baskets of bread before we got our entre order! Mom was so tired of waiting she put her head down for a nap and I had to stand up from sitting to long. The people next to us felt so sorry for us they went and complained to the manager for us without us knowing. They came in after us. After the people complained, the manager did bring out our food. After over 40 plus min. wait for our food, guess what? Our order was wrong again. I ordered extra side of okra, he put in extra orka and mash potatoes. Dad ordered his graving on the side, but his was covered with gravey and plus a side order of gravey! We also ordered all the orka to be doubled fried (extra churchy like my grandma used to make) but only one order was crunchy. We ate it very quickly to go get out of there. Mom only ate a quarter of her dinner (filled up on bread) and when she was putting it into the box, she was so tired, it accidentally fell on the floor while she was putting items in. Then my mom just started crying after such a hard ordeal. Then there was an error on the bill and had to have it corrected. We went to resturants far busier on Veterans Day with an easier, more enjoyable meals. Over one hour and forty-five minutes later......
Read moreI am a food critic & I hope this may help someone who debates going here. We (4 extremely critical/demanding people) dined here on a Monday evening. There wasn't a wait but the place wasn't empty either. Place was clean and yes I even checked the decorations amd corners of the walls and above the bathroom stalls and they were dusted, not even a cobweb. The table we sat at didn't have any gum on or under the chairs/tables. To me a restaurant no matter what class should NEVER EVER be just surfaced cleaned amd from what we checked it was 10 stars. Our Hostess was very nice, professional, courteous and went above and beyond for service, super accommodating! Waitress was prompt (wished I remembered her name, but others were very nice and helpful to us as well) and conversed well. Drinks were refilled by the time it hit the half-way mark (which for us is VERY important). The manager on duty was kind and asked how everything was. He wasnt the intruding kind either. I believe this is an important step alot of the more common not 4 star restaurants skip or don't have time for. The crew working the kitchen was smiling, kept their conversations professional and clean (very important to me). All Waiters made sure the food was perfect coming out, they conversed with the kitchen for stuff they needed and the kitchen repeated it back and it was served (just like these 4 star restaurants I go to in Beverly Hills and New York). The food was amazing, hot, fresh, perfect portion of everything right down to the gravy. Though we love cornbread, this place could stand a different recipe. All in all definitely 5stars, can't wait to go back! Way to go Black Eyed Pea, so far from what I've seen and experienced this is how every restaurant should be. Props to this...
