A couple of years ago, on my way to work, I was looking for someplace to grab a quick burrito to take along. I happened upon this place. The food was pretty good, but, gee, it took forever to get my combination plate. It was cheap enough, but the wait wasn't worth it.
Today, I went to an appointment nearby, so I stopped in. Yikes! Can't read the three screen menu...too tiny for these old eyes. Asked for a menu. After much discussion, I was told they were out of them. I backed away and let another customer order as I continued to squint at the screens. The cashier came around the counter and read the menu for me, explaining it. That was really nice.
I ordered a breakfast burrito: bacon, cheese, potato. I also ordered a bean and cheese burrito for later. The breakfast one was filled with crispy bacon cooked the way I like it, but I found no cheese and only a little bit of potato in the last two bites. It was tasty, just not what I expected. They certainly didn't skimp on the bacon and you cannot be hungry after the burrito I just consumed. As for the other burrito, I'll know later.
If I was going to put "Express" in the name of my business, I'd make sure the product was produced quickly. Fresh doesn't equate to slow. I was the only customer there, after the lady left before me and a car pulled up in the drive-thru as I was leaving. If I had the setup they have, I could make it much faster.
I'm going to stick with Santiago's. It's local, too. I go on certain days during the rush and am quite satisfied, even if there isn't much of a choice other than hot, mild, or half and half. BE could put some chile inside and it would be fantastic. Might be...
Read moreWe’ve been coming to this Mexican restaurant for a while now because the food is consistently fantastic — and today was no different on that front. The grilled chicken tacos were flavorful, and the chorizo breakfast burrito hit the spot. The kitchen staff deserves 5 stars — they were attentive, and one of the cooks even helped me get a to-go box right away without hesitation.
Unfortunately, the service experience completely missed the mark. We arrived on Sunday, July 20, 2025, around 1:40 PM, and were met with an extremely rude cashier — a woman with a bird tattoo on her neck. We stood at the register for a good three minutes without being acknowledged, and after finally placing our order for three grilled chicken tacos, a chorizo breakfast burrito, and three fountain drinks, she just walked away — without handing us our drink cups.
I waited at the register for another five minutes, clearly visible to her, before she finally returned. Shockingly, she asked what I wanted to order again, as if I hadn’t just done so. I had to request a receipt, which she only printed from the card machine — meaning no item breakdown. When I asked for our drinks, she acted confused, as if she didn’t remember us ordering them just minutes earlier.
To top it off, once our food was ready, it wasn’t called out or brought to us — it sat there until one of us decided to go check.
All in all, we give the food 5 stars, but the customer service was a solid 1 star — rude, inattentive, and careless. We were honestly shocked by how poor the front-of-house experience was this time. Hopefully, management addresses it, because the food is too good to be paired with that...
Read moreService is nice, My daughter loved this place, we like their Horchata, and the chimichangas are great. The enchilada sauce is tart in a way that reminds me of canned enchilada sauce, and I think that could be better. Not to come across as "judgy", I may be harder to please with mexican food becuase I grew up closer to the border, eating authentic mexican and scratch made texmex foods. What makes me want to give even less stars is the use of styrofoam plates for an in house meal. The styrofoam served with food that is supposed to be hot really weirded me out, I ordered enchiladas that weren't melted inside-maybe becuase heat will melt the plate, and food needs to be hot when served. I asked to warm up my food and the guy was nice, but he microwaved it... I'm not ok with melting styrofoam into my food. Nor do I want cold food... but also, the impact of styrofoam on the environment with a restaurants heavy dispersment of food related packaging and the toxin risk for hot food items, is not a good combination, and I would assume it is a wasteful item to throw away money over as a consistent cost that could be saved with permanent washable plates. Maybe I went on a day when they were out of a safer product, or a recyclable alternative? But, that is the kind of non biodegradable waste I cannot contribute to in good conscience considering styrofoam packages sometimes warn of the risk associated with heating...
