Magill's World of Ice Cream — Restaurant in Lakewood

I’ve lived in the area for 30 years now and have driven past this place probably over one thousand times. Last week I finally Googled it. I was very excited to finally try it after seeing all the positive reviews on here. After I couldn’t find what I was looking for in the premade pints, an employee offered to pack me one with whatever I wanted. I chose the dairy-free cookies and cream.

When I got home and tried it, I couldn’t believe how much I disliked it… I love cookies and cream everything, but not this. No one in my family could eat more than a bite either. After thinking about it for a while, I’m sorry to report it was the worst dessert I’ve had in my life. I really feel bad writing that, but it’s the truth. This place has so many flavors and varieties and based on all these reviews, I have no doubt there are better flavors there, but as it stands with my limited experience, I’m left incredibly disappointed and wasted $8 on something nobody in my house could stomach. I wish I was offered a sample first, but then again I didn’t think to ask. The employees, atmosphere, and service were all great though. I would like to give this place another shot someday but it literally left a bad taste...

This place is AWESOME. I would never have found it on my own, I saw an ad for it once but my roommates really sold me on it and now that I've been, I will absolutely be returning. Extremely delicious ice cream, including unique flavors that are just out of this world. Always a bit of a wait, don't come here in a hurry, but it is absolutely worth every minute. They make their own ice cream, and have 40 flavors in rotation at the counter, though they make quite a bit more (see website for all the flavors they make). My favorites so far are Sleepless in Seattle (coffee xtreme) and chocolate banana Oreo.

Edit: came back to say this place is still amazing! I haven't been to any other ice cream shop since I found Magill's, and I tell everyone I know about it. Just took my mom here for Mother's Day for the first time lol. My new favorite combo is Caramel Cashew and Elk Tracks.
