New Gangnam BBQ I — Restaurant in Lakewood

I'm not one to go home and write bad reviews but this has to be done. Worst dining experience ever. I called a day in advance to make my birthday reservation for 10, they noted down my name, time, and phone number. Then I call on the day of 6-7 hours in advance to confirm, all seemed well.

These people don't know what a reservation is! These idiots gave away our table two times! My friend works in the restaurant business and had never heard of a place giving away a reserved seating. Completely unacceptable, I called the same day to confirm for Christ sake. Every time I asked a lady worker, she kept telling me 20 minutes; she can't comprehend that I made a reservation and my name is right there on their appointment calendar. While I stand there trying to get any sort of help, a middle aged man wearing casual clothes with a bob haircut stands by very laxed; turns out he is the manager and I find this out after approaching him with my frustration. I made the reservation a day in advance, it's my birthday, everyone is starving and we've been waiting for 1 HOUR AND A HALF. What a bunch of incompetents that BARELY speak English running a business in America where more than half their customer base are English speaking Americans.

Terrible, absolutely dreadful lacking experience!! After 1.5hrs we got seated and wow the service was so below par. Didn't get rice until a while before getting meats (who does that?! Not even in any Asian house do you not setup rice before the main dish!), waitress did not fill up low sodas or ask, could BARELY understand the waitress, when the waitress was taking our order on the 10 sodas she didn't even think to get a paper and pen to jot down (no common sense), instead she let out a big sigh and looked like it was a hassle; if you don't like your job then quit.

During the hour and half wait I spotted a group of 5 patrons and overheard one of them say 'reservation'. HAH as I thought to myself. These people have absolutely no clue what the word reservation means so good luck.

The food even tasted less satisfying than before another time. Garbage service gets this kbbq a 1 star. The free sodas for us does not justify the service. I will never be coming back and I'm sure the 9 of my friends won't either.

As of now this place is 4.3 with 90 reviews, imagine if all 10 of us gave it a 1 star, the rating would be down to 3.9

If you're in a very small group, go to Cham Garden BBQ. MUCH better...

Today my experience was horrible, I've been here two other times and had almost similar treatment. Today I waited in the lobby patiently to be seated, it was semi busy (30 min wait as others were being seated before me,) as I was waiting, I asked the host if I could get korean bbq for one, she responded in almost a rude way with very broken english 2 or 1, with her face scrounged in as if she was mad. That didn't bother me as much because my mother who was korean had broken English so I'm thinking just one where as most korean bbq places requires 2, I didn't see any signs in stating 2 minimum, where as before I saw the signs there before stating it so I thought maybe they changed the policy. After 30 minutes I was seated, but didnt recieve service for additional 20 minutes after being seated, so I patiently waited for a servers as I see them walk by making eye contact, at this point I started to become fustrated, not one word was said to me, then server drops off complimentary water without breaking a stride. The server finally asks my for my order I pointed to the sign and asked if I can get the 15.99 all you can eat bbq, she nodded her head and went off on her way to put in my order, as I was waiting the hostess comes up to my table with an elevated voice and an angered look on her face pointing two fingers in my face saying " you pay 2, $15.99 and $15.99 and then went up to my server and told her charge for 2. My waitress walks up looking as if she's been scolded and tells me I have to charge you for 2, by this point I was hungry and fed up, catching my self raising my voice I immediately calmly told the waitress, I don't need to be treated this way and asked for a manager, the waitress replied " We don't have a manager" so then I asked for a business card and said to them someone owns this place as I proceeded to walk out of the establishment never to return. The 2 other times I went with friends, they serve you without the lettuce and sometimes sides even though they did have it, this place profiles you because they assume your standard American and assume you just want your bbq meat and rice not giving you correct service. The workers were very rude. We had one waitress that was helping us, she decided halfway through she wanted to eat so she dissapeared without saying anything, leaving us looking around confused when we needed assistance until we saw her sat at a table with another waitress. After 5-10 minutes we then had a 2nd waitress waitress come so we could order more food. She approached us, already seemingly irritated, and when we asked for more food she told us about a new rule in which any dish we do not eat all of adds $5 more to the tab, AFTER the actual price of the food you already have to pay. Mind you, we had already ordered our first round of 3 dishes, one which we didn't like and one beef one that had so much food we couldn't finish it. So according to her this would be an extra $10 added to the tab. She then brought out our 2nd round of food, 1 of which was another large bowl of beef that looked almost identical to the bowl of beef from the first round we didn't finish but was supposed to be a completely different dish. Should could not tell us the difference between the dish that was brought out in the first round and the new dish that was brought out in the 2nd round. She couldn't even tell us what each one was supposed to be, so we did send back the 2nd bowl of beef because we didn't want another $5 fee for a 2nd bowl of the same dish we didn't finish previously. That waitress never came back, instead we had a 3rd waitress drop off our check and ask if we wanted a 3rd round of food, which we declined. Finally a 4th waitress came and took the check. Because of our bad experiences we had decided not to tip them, (considering we had 4 different waitresses, which one would we even be tipping?) but after taking the tab the 4th waitress came back to ask for a tip, which we declined to give. That seemed to upset her as she threw the tray containing the tab on the table and threw her hands up while walking away. Overall, we were there for about an hour, had 4 different waitress, and were threatened with an extra $15 in fees because we did not completely clean the bowls of food, on top of the price you pay for the food itself.
