This is a late review but this needs to be said as it saddens me that my husband and I won't be coming back after the service we were given. My husband and I have been here a couple of times and the last time we went was on Sunday and this server was at first nice. I forgot her name but that night she was dressed kind of like Harley Quinn, pig tails and all and had glasses. My husband ordered his usual bison burger that he got there and I order a bison salad. He wanted a medium done burger but got sent a well done burger that tasted burnt. I even took a bite and it just tasted as if it was just left on the grill too long and the flavor was just gone. We asked if we could get a new one and the server went from nice to sassy real quick. Kept asking us "would you like a new one", "I can get you a new one" on repeat but in the most condensendinging tone possible. She stopped smiling and that's when we knew it was going to be an issue. It actually got worse. The burger took 30 minutes to get to us and the restaurant wasn't even busy. She brought us the burger and just dropped it and left. My husband bit into again and zero pink and just well done....AGAIN! The server kept blaming the new chef they had on training but I'm sorry if the chef is new in training someone has to make sure he is being taught properly. But for the server to just be blaming others rather then get someone to investigate the issue is baffling. When we wanted to pay we couldn't find her but she eventually brought us the check, paid us out and we stay there for a bit debating if we wanted to bring this up to a manager but didn't. As we were leaving she was leaning up on the kitchen bar talking to the chefs , probably bad mouthing us cause the minute she saw us leave she straightened herself up and stopped talking. Sorry but horrible service and if someone says something is an issue don't be making the customer wait almost 30 more minutes to get another order in and still get it...
Read moreAte here for the first time last night after just moving to the area. The service was pretty standard, not in a bad way. i thought the pricing was very reasonable for everything. My wife LOVED hers and so did I until….
I ordered the Bison NY Strip medium rare-I was three bites into it and noticed my steak going from what I thought would be a nice red all the way through to purple/blue. I cut into it more and it was cooked rare-raw basically. No biggie, I’ll just have the waiter cook it. No avail, comes back out still purple in the middle. A second time they take it back to cook the same piece more. During this time my wife finished hers, my sides went cold…and I no longer wanted to eat there and lost my patience. When my steak came back the second time I didn’t even cut it open to check, it was just burnt black on the outside which I thought, who would serve this to someone. Anyway, I asked for a box.
Now I’m a big foodie, my meal should have been comp’d at this point, cooked it 3 times, wait time, and didn’t even stay to eat there. The waiter was nice to tell me he would knock some off for the inconvenience, I thought ok cool, he’s going to take my meal off. Nope. Took $10 bucks off, basically got the drinks for free. I’m not someone to look for a handout nor will I ask for a discount on anything. I’ll let the business do that and be the judge of how they “think” what’s reasonable and fair enough to still maintain someone’s return to their restaurant.
My experience, great restaurant, can cook great food but needs to handle situations like this better. Still charging a customer for a steak they didn’t even eat there and will likely end up feeding to their dogs is pretty lame. That steak cost around $7 COST for the restaurant, comping one, especially for this situation wouldn’t hurt. And likely would have retained a customer since my wife loved hers and thought everything else was great and is walking...

We had a fantastic dining experience at Ted’s Montana Grill in Belmar. From the moment we walked in, the warm, rustic atmosphere felt inviting and relaxed, perfect for a casual dinner or a small celebration. The staff was genuinely friendly and attentive without hovering, making us feel welcome and taken care of throughout our meal.
The menu offers a variety of classic American comfort foods with a focus on quality, including bison and beef options that are hard to beat for flavor and tenderness. We tried the bison burgers, which were cooked perfectly, juicy, and full of rich, savory flavor without being heavy. The hand-cut fries were crispy and well-seasoned, and the freshly baked popovers they bring out at the start of your meal are a unique, comforting touch that makes you feel like you’re somewhere special.
Their bar selection was also impressive, with well-crafted cocktails and a solid selection of local beers that paired nicely with the hearty meals. We appreciated that the environment was lively but not loud, allowing for easy conversation.
Overall, Ted’s Montana Grill in Belmar delivers a consistently excellent experience with high-quality food, a welcoming team, and a comfortable atmosphere that makes you want to come back. Whether you’re in the mood for a great steak, a delicious burger, or a casual drink with friends, Ted’s hits the mark every time.
