They have an "Okay" food rating. This is my third time trying to write this review. So Imma try to get to the point. My husband and I were here last Friday on a date. I was excited because it's hard to go here with small kids who are picky eaters. We sat down pretty quickly which was good and I had high hopes. I generally avoid most Korean BBQ places because the service has been inconsistent with how attentive the staff are. I've been to this location a few times before the name change and I was hoping this experience would be ok because this location tends to be more accommodating to other races. I've experienced this at a few locations on South Tacoma way. I shared my experience with my family and that this location is generally unaccommodating to African Americans. I'm not saying this is the reason but I can make several strong arguments. I don't know people's motives or intentions but it was hard to not draw to this conclusion based on how others were getting serviced.
Things started to go down fast once we sat down. We were not asked if we wanted anything to drink and they only gave water. I was trying to minimize that it's not a big deal, like it was late... Blah blah blah. A family of 3 adults sat down about ten minutes after we did and within 5 min, they had their drinks, meat, and sides. My husband didn't notice at first but once I pointed it out he was quietly frustrated. We ordered and we waited 15 minutes before anything came out and the party next to us was already eating their meats. I was timing and was about to leave when our food came out. The waitress laughed and said "long time" and I smiled in agreement. I was surprised to see the portions they brought out because it seemed inconsistent to the party that was next to us. But I minimized due to it being two of us and that this is an all you can eat. We didn't see the waitress for awhile and the few times she came I tried to ask her something and felt ignored. I'm thinking I was not loud enough but when another lady came by she helped us and I used the same tone. There was another time when the first waitress came by and she said we had too much food, cut up out BBQ and left. I was surprised because we didn't order anything else and our sides were not that empty and this is what we ordered off their combo đ. I asked for more fish cakes and rice, and once I got that, they turned off our grill. My husband said "I guess we're done" and I agreed ... So ready to go.
It was so interesting because the party next to us was ordering more food and the next party was pretty much having food thrown at them. I'm not asking for world class service but this was not a...

Read moreThe Grill gave me such an interesting experience. I genuinely enjoyed their cuisine. It's almost too bad I can't give them five stars. But, in terms of service, I was really disappointed.
So my family and I came here for AYCE. And it's not our first visit at Korean AYCE, and we've always found the food amounts to be relatively minimal for each order. So my hubby requested me to order a variety of foods. Because I speak Korean but he does not, I normally place our orders at a Korean restaurant.
Anyway, when this female waitress arrived at our table, I requested several items that my husband requested because he loved variety. She began embarrassing me for ordering so many dishes in the middle of my orderâI had probably ordered five dishes at this point. Then this lady said, "You don't have to order so much. If you wish, you can order more later. It's AYCE" with the tone of a mother reprimanding her child for playing video games for 38 hours straight without showering or cleaning up the room. It doesn't sound so horrible when I write it, but she treated me so poorly that my own mother never even spoke to me in this manner in 38 years of my life. And it wasn't the only thing she said; she couldn't stop talking about how much I was ordering. I felt uncomfortable and flustered, so I just answered, "Well, my husband asked me to order these things." Then she goes, "Okay, do you still want to order more then? If you wish, you can." What was wrong with this lady? She had been bitching at me for over-ordering, and now she was giving me the choice to order whatever I wanted. So passive aggressive!
I've been reluctant to return to this restaurant ever then, despite the fact that the meal was excellent. I didn't want to tip, but the man in front was so courteous that I did. The food is delicious, but I hope they train their servers on customer service and never let them to treat other...
