Elmwood Home Bakery — Restaurant in Lakewood

Parked in the lot on Elmwood. Husband stayed in the car while 3 of us went to the bakery. We walked south on Elmwood to Madison (I never walk through alleys). Entered establishment at noon on a Saturday on Madison and there were no customers ahead of our group. Spent over $60 cash (to save the establishment credit card processing fees), left the counter person a tip, and retraced our walk back to the car. A male claiming to be the owner approached our car and said the lot is only for Elmwood Bakery. We explained that was the only shop we went to and he became aggressive accusing us of shopping at other stores in the area. Then he told us to never come back again. I've driven 30 minutes one way to buy date nut from Elmwood since Bakers Bakery closed but Elmwood is replaceable after the hostility directed at my family today. God Bless Elmwood Bakery! I went to the bakery but discovered I had forgotten my wallet at home so turned around to get it and then drove back. Get this- They weren't even open today (I am obviously an idiot), but as I approached, a kind sir opened the door and let me in. He asked why I had already been there once (he must have seen me park and unpark through the window) and I told him that the first time I had forgotten my wallet so had to go back home to retrieve it. He asked if there was anything in particular I was looking for. I told him poppyseed roll and he just happened to have one! AND THEN, this angel said, "No wallet needed today". First time visit! Right away when I said I’d like 4-6 pastries (So the clerk would know how big my box should be) both girls behind counter said: we don’t have any danish! So I said I didn’t ask for danish, I just need 6 pastries, ok, but we’re out of danish since that’s what we sell…really? Was I speaking a different language? Both continued to be rude as they were packing my “pastries” in my box and as I left I told them: bad customer service for a first time visitor and that I didn’t even feel welcome!
