TL;DR version: there is something for everyone here. Full version: I visited this library with my three-year-old. We were obviously going to check out the play area, and we were pleasantly surprised by how big and beautiful this branch of the library is!! There are so many rooms with high (really high) ceilings and tons of natural light to read. I would love to come back by myself and just sit and read for a few hours! They also have a LOT of books/magazines/DVDs/CDs for sale in the basement for great prices!

This is a nice place to study or work remotely in a quiet setting. I love that many of the study spaces upstairs are near big windows that provide lovely natural light. Good access to power outlets at the desks. (Traditional 3-prong outlets, not USB type). Good sized parking lot and clean restrooms. This library has a couple of nice photography displays in the lobby and hallways too.

The building is beautiful, the collections are extensive, but it was not a very inviting place. They could use an update in the tech center and more private study areas. Would also be nice to bring drinks in. It had the feel of the old idea of a library I wish they would keep the look of the old luxurious museum feel but made it a bit more modern.

No thank you. This place is awful. The staff is often rude and distant. And their media room access is ridiculous!!! Seriously now, they don't even carry Blu ray disks and the majority of the DVDs that they had we all close to 10 years or older. Why you would ever need to leave your identification at the door is beyond me, anything even close to being current wasn't anything from pop culture and looked as if it had been picked up from the bargain bin at the dollar store. Trust me, theft won't be a problem when you aren't even offering anything worth stealing!! My last visit was just a confirmation on why it's been so long since going.

Also their policy on family cards is such a hassle!!! I cannot stand that my entire family can't just withdraw from one card like other libraries. It's hard enough to keep one account straight when you're borrowing as much as we do but to be expected to do it with five, there's NO WAY!!! The last time that my daughter tried to use her card she was shamed because she apparently had a fine and missing books. When I called to see how much it was and for what books (so I knew what to look for in the house) I was treated like a criminal. The woman on the phone was SHOCKED that I would dare to ask for information on someone else's account (her words). Let me be clear, my daughter was in elementary school, not a grown adult. If I'm responsible for the fines I darned well expect that you'll tell me what...

This library has the aesthetics of a museum but unfortunately the unpleasant demeanor of the DMV. While i understand the concept of patronage in a library the unnecessary, marathon of a process to print something is only one aspect of the terrible experience my friend and I had here. Not to mention the ultra-strict rules for use of their study rooms. While I am grateful they have these areas, they are underutilized due to their one reservation per day clause. We were not allowed to have any drinks, to include water in a sealed container to be available thus why we left for lunch. Upon return the receptionist or whomever she was informed us that because we left the building for no more than 20 mins for lunch that we were unable to return to utilize the room. This is concerning considering the lack of reservations and patrons using the rooms. The only two rooms we saw were both without use at the time which leads me to believe that Lakewood needs to understand their population when it comes to public resources. If this was a private institution this would be different but an entity that is FROM the people FOR the people should consider their residents when it comes to facilities,...

Rude Librarians! Beautiful library but not so nice staff. My wife and I are new to the area and decided to get a library card. Stopped in on a Saturday and a young teenager started to help us. Nice guy! Unfortunately he made a mistake entering our information and his supervisor took over. Not a Hi, didn't even make eye contact and seemed annoyed when my wife asked her to look up a book for her. Ok, so maybe it was an off day for this lady so a week later my wife goes back to return a book she checked out. Different lady but from the start she gave my wife an attitude just for returning a book and asking a few questions. She kept directing her to go use the Kiosk instead. Wow! There wasn't any people around so it wasn't like she was super busy. Will not be coming back!! My wife left feeling really down on how she was treated. Fortunately a librarian in a local Cleveland Public Library branch later that day restored a sense of humanity into my wife with amazing customer service. Will be giving them a 5...
