I stumbled upon this place a few years ago, but I wanted to share my experience because it was quite unique and frankly a memory I wish to hold close. I want to say this experience was probably rare, I don't know because I haven't the opportunity to come back yet, I'm sure it's still very cute and wholesome. Here's my story :)
It was my senior year of high school and our theater program was participating in the bucks county student theater festival. We were preforming our piece later, but first there were other activities and classes. My best friend and I... Mayyyybe skipped the classes by crossing the bridge and exploring. (I mean we've done the classes in past years and I probably should have gone, but we were seniors in highschool who wanted a little spontaneous adventure around the block.)
We snuck past other students and crossed the bridge, even ran into this poor instructor who asked us if we were a part of the festival but we acted as though we were not. Some improv I guess you would say. We kept walking and noticed the group of students were close behind us, we didn't realize the class was in the same direction. We looked and the building next to us and saw this lovely cafe and just went inside.
I don't think we planned on buying anything, my friend grabbed a newspaper from the stand outside as if he just wanted to sit and read it until the crowd passed us. However, the owner was kind to us and my friend bought me a chai latte, was very good btw.
I finally started to take in my surroundings. A man, a little older, was playing a guitar in the table next to us (I believe I remember Blackbird was being played which is a song I hold dear as well) which was right by the window, while another customer was all the way on the other side. The barista (whom I believe was the owner) was talking to the man as he played and the room felt warm and welcoming. The man was playing a song, I wish I remembered what song, but the barista starting singing along and it was sweet. Then all of a sudden the one other customer was harmonizing. I felt like I was in a movie, I have no idea if anyone was hired or just old friends or frequent customers. It was just surreal.
After the song the barista talks to us a little more and we somehow explain that we also sing, you know choir and theater). My friend was really talking more about me though, and the man and what song of like to sing. I just picked Someone Like You by Adele... Not sure why, it's an easy enough song I guess, but he said he didn't know it. We showed the song, he listened to it a bit and picked it up so quickly and yes I sang the song. The whole thing felt like a dream, seriously. I'm sure the experience is quite rare, but if the same people are still there I'm sure the small community over there is very welcoming.
I would love to try and go back, but I know with COVID and the fact that it would be planned would not make it as magical as my experience...
Read moreBucks Ice Cream and Espresso Bar is hands down the friendliest spot in Lambertville. The second you walk in you feel at home. The staff is beyond welcoming and always ready with a smile. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to hang around and just soak up the good vibes.
The vibe is cozy and artsy with local paintings on the walls and colorful touches that make it feel unique. Dogs are welcome too, which makes it even better because you can sip your coffee with your pup by your side.
The drinks are delicious. I’m talking amazing chai, lattes, turmeric and matcha that are done just right. And the pastry selection is so good. Cookies, banana bread, rice crispy treats, you name it. Perfect for pairing with your drink.
This is one of those spots that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the moment. Great coffee, great treats, great people. Truly the most welcoming...
Read moreDelightful spot for a cup of coffee and a scoop of ice cream - or, with the Affogato, both! The Affogato is two scoops of ice cream drowned in espresso, and it’s a sweet pick-me-up. I’d also recommend the Elvis flavored ice cream, which is chocolate with banana and peanut butter. We appreciated the original art on the walls, which fits the town, as well as the Waterloo seltzer, which is one of our favorite brands. Real nice staff, everything was up to COVID expectations, and some seating outside - a bench. Family friendly joint. The used music store upstairs was very cool, too, and I hope to be back both...
