It pains me to write this 1-star review because for years now BJs has been one of our favorite restaurants to go to in the Lancaster area.
However, we won’t be back for a long time (if ever) after our last experience on Saturday evening.
We entered the wait list in the app, and upon arriving in the restaurant, our wait was significantly longer than the app quoted. We waited around 40 minutes even though they were only seating half the dining room and there were plenty of empty tables.
I’m assuming the restaurant was very understaffed because our server disappeared for an extended time as he said he needed to help out the bartender with orders. We got the prime rib and apparently medium = well done. Prime rib was dry and overcooked with little flavor. All my sides were piled on the same plate, causing the au jus to completely spill all over the plate before the food runner even delivered it to the table. This made the prime rib absorb it and be excessively salty.
Our server never cleared any of our plates or cups during our meal. Not even one. Based on other reviews, that seems to be a trend at this restaurant now. We’re glad it was just the 2 of us dining becuase there wouldn’t have been enough room at the table for anyone else with all those empty dishes.
Brussel sprouts were basically raw (and they cost extra too) and had almost no sauce on them. Hard to flag anyone down to get anything fixed or get refills as we were not even checked on for a long time after the food was dropped off. We gave up and just ate whatever we could have our pitiful excuse for a meal.
If you’re understaffed that’s fine. But be transparent with customers about it so they understand the waits. However if you’re only seating half the dining room and there are extended waits, the food quality absolutely has to be on point, but it definitely wasn’t this time. I was disgusted to spend over $40 per person for poor service and awful food.
As I mentioned, we’ve been here many times before, had family gatherings here, and ordered the prime rib multiple times before with no issues. No issues until this visit, that is. If we had a chance to even interact with anybody for more than a few seconds at the restaurant we could have given the feedback in person, but alas, a Google...
Read moreI was in this store earlier, My servers name I believe was Jenna. I was with two other friends here. At first this server seemed nice took our order but we noticed she was a bit rushed and understood it gets busy. But then we got our drinks, naturally we expected to get straws without asking and we didn’t, so I stopped and asked another server who was serving the section next to us, blonde haired girl and she gave us the straws afterwards we got our meal and I then asked our server Jenna for water because we were thirsty. She brought us waters again no straw so I unfortunately had to stop the same server that gave us straws except that time I was met with with a nasty attitude as if it was the hardest task to complete, I understand it’s not your section but our server is moving too fast and not bothering with us at all. She never comes to give us the straws. She instead went to speak to our server, Jenna who never came to us at all after that. We then watched that same server cater to her tables and completely ignore us, we eventually got straws but it was from another server. Afterwards, we spoke to the supervisor briefly but it didn’t seem that the situation was important enough to be addressed at that time so we were ignored the whole entire meal, my friend never got her fries that she ordered, we were never asked if the meal was good, never asked if we wanted to order desert all while we watched our server Jenna tend to her other tables continuously, check in with them on multiple occasions but never once did she stop to check in with us, we had to wait almost 20-30 minutes for her to bring the bill we watched her walk back and forth and refuse to bring us the bill when she did she assumed that we were all paying together and on the bill she included the fries we never actually received but she would know this had she checked in on us but she didn’t bother: this was my first and will be last experience at BJs . What...
Read moreI was visiting a few days ago from out of state and my mother is a loyalty member here so I wanted to see what the hype was about! Our server was wonderful; super attentive, friendly, and awesome! Food was great too! The reason why I am giving 1 star is because at the end, my server asked if we could please take a survey for them. I said “sure absolutely we’ll do it right now!” The server said it’ll be a couple hours for us to actually be able to do the survey. I also asked how long it’ll take and they told me about 20 minutes. So now if I want to take this survey I have to wait a couple hours and then also spend 20 minutes on a survey? My ADHD could never. I asked how important it was for the server and they told me that they would really appreciate it with a look like “please take the survey” . I used to be a server so I get it, I was intrigued so I asked more questions about it. My server was hesitant to answer out of (probably out of fear of getting in trouble) but I assured it would be okay. They told me these surveys have become something that makes or breaks their hours/section/opportunities to take large parties in the restaurant. That’s absolutely ridiculous that there is this much pressure on the servers to rely on their tables to not only wait a couple hours for this email to arrive, but to also spend 20 minutes on it. I don’t want to have to be responsible for my servers hours and opportunities when they are already a great server. I had to set an alarm on my phone to remember to check my mom’s email and dedicate 20 minutes for this stupid survey just so my conscience can be cleared that my server can have a good review so that they could continue to make money at their job. Completely disgusting. My mom and I won’t be coming back because of this. I don’t want to support a place that treats their...
