Disappointed on so many levels. Pleased on one. I read the reviews and the food simply did not measure up to the reviews. We've been in lancaster county for 7 years and this is a constant theme. People here seem to rate places a 4 simply if a meal of any quality was delivered? We came in at 930 on a Saturday night for food and drink. We walked in and took two open seats at the bar. There are wait people who are hired for looks and those who are hired for ability. We got one of each and the young looker took a full five minutes to even scan the room let alone recognize we were there while the able server was working the back. Most everything about the young one had a kind of slow myopia about it: she simply did not have the door and room awareness i expected of my fellow servers when i was in the industry. We got drinks and menus in a clean neat bar environ and watched the Phil's for a bit. Kim ordered a west coast cheese steak with fries and I ordered nine wings with a mix of Cajun and medium flavoring and a basket of onion rings. 10 minutes later, the older server came up front, engaged us with personality and offered to refresh my drink which she pleasantly did. 10 minutes later food arrived with the older server. There are lots of schools of thought in the chicken wing realm: some places just deep fry them and some use par baking with seasoning followed by a quick fry to heat them up followed by some sauce and some use baking the whole way. Stubby used pure frying. The oil was too hot (blistering) and the wings were in for too long. The result was wings with knots of meat near the ends that were simply undigestible rocks with dry strands of sinew in between the ends. The kicker is the sauce was freaking marvelous. My onion ring suffered the same fate arriving brown instead of something resembling an unburnt golden breading. They were so tough the granules of breading wore away at the roof of my mouth and cheeks. The coating was so hard no amount of chili ranch sauce could soak into them. Wing sauce gets an A PLUS. Chili ranch gets an A. wings and onion rings are a solid fail. Kim enjoyed her sauv blanc , the cheese steak was average, and the fries were the same. . I don't know if we hit a bad night or not but I am guessing we will not...

Lancaster City Location: They talk the talk and walk the walk when it comes to their Ultimate Cheese Fries. They fulfill the description, especially the "ultimate" word usage, by truly layering a blend of cheeses and meats through the layers of an oversized mound of fresh cut fries. There was no skimping and this sharable dish rightfully deserves a five star rating! There were two of us and we shared the full portion. We were going to order stromboli too but there was no way we could do it after indulging in the fries. Of course we chose ranch for dipping. I should've asked for extra ranch considering the large portion of food. Ketchup was good on them as well. I find many times, whether it's cheese fries or nachos on restaurant menus, that various restaurants' kitchen staff puts cheese on the top of a dish and it's not layered, and you end up paying for a plate full of plain fries or tortilla chips underneath the top layer which is a bummer, especially when advertised as loaded or ultimate, or whatever! NOT Stubby's!!!! ...

At first glance, Stubby's is not that impressive. Though not quite a dive bar, the venue is more or less the typical neighborhood sports bar, has big TVs, some booths and tables, some section is big enough for groups, nothing fancy. However if you figured out how to get to the outdoor seating, that section gives it a feel of higher class bar. The outdoor section is wide open, so you will be exposed to the elements. The only food I've had are the appetizers. Any of the fries are excellent! The waffle fries are nicely seasoned. And both the waffle fries and fresh cut fries come with very good dipping sauce/dressing. The ultimate cheese fries are delicious, unless you are health conscious person. The wings are not bad, par for the course but not impressive either. The nachos, pretty good. Being a bar, the only disappointing part is the beer selection. They mostly have the standard ball game beer. For most people this should be fine, but if you're hoping to find a selection of craft beers, you'll be...

This is a cute little sports bar, right in Lancaster. They only offer a menu with handheld sandwiches on it. They do not offer plates of food you need a fork and knife to eat. I had the chicken parmigiana sandwich. It came out really good and with a good portion of chips. I would definitely order it again. Tv placement wasn’t the best for trying to watch the game, but we made it work. The service was a bit slow, but it also was super busy for the first eagles game of the season. The restroom was clean, however if you use the stalls, it takes brushing up against the backs of those standing at the urinal to get out. The restaurant was clean and there was no real wait to sit down. Parking is all street parking, which at the time I arrived, I found no issue finding parking. I would definitely return if I’m back in the area.

Sat outside for dinner and it was quiet, cool and comfortable. Delicious onion rings and perhaps the best California style cheesesteak I’ve ever encountered. The other cheesesteaks ordered were all a little off, the meat was tossed in a red “steak sauce” that wasn’t mentioned on the menu and took away from what could have been a table full of amazing sandwiches. Instead one of us had a great sandwich and others didn’t even want to pack up leftovers. Wings were market price and noted as being fresh, never frozen but they came out appearing freezer burned. Priced at about $2 per wing. The French onion soup was riddled with oregano, and not so good. Fantastic customer service and unsweetened tea that was brewed strong and didn’t water down with ice. Overall I would return for the California cheesesteak!

Very underwhelming—- it’s not aesthetically pleasing and it gave me like there’s possibly rodent vibes but that is besides the point… I was (obviously) very different from the population they serve, but the servers communicated with me as little as possible. . . I ordered chili and it was not hot, just warm… the fries are ordered were fresh cut and hot… I paid, left and didn’t even hear a goodbye or thank you… I don’t know just a strange experience… I was giving this place a try because I’m in town for work and the reviews were okay— I was unimpressed and wished there would have been more engagement even if I was different than the rest of the crowd. Anyway here are the pics of the food…
