It had been several years since I had last been here so we thought we'd give it a try again. The service was good, fair selection of food, you can eat in or take out. There's extra parking at the back of the bldg from James, little A-frame side walk sign is the only marker.
We ordered the chicken Athena gyro, and 4 skewers; 1 chicken, 2 beefteki, 1 not - on - the - menu special which was lamb, regular fries and feta fries. (GF means they won't serve it with pita, and not provide you with an alternative bread.)
The skewers were OK, the lamb, though, was very good. The Athena gyros with chicken was also OK but on the dry side for my taste. I got some extra tzatziki sauce ($.50) which was bland and more in the way of paste rather than sauce.
The difference between regular fries and feta fries is about a tablespoon of feta crumbles. Maybe tossing then with a bit of their dressing would have kicked it up a notch. Definitely not worth the anticipation. Let's face it, good fries are hard to find. Also, their fries would have been better if they were served hot rather than this side of cooled off.
All this to say it'll be several years before I try this again. They'd do well, imo, to serve traditional authentic beef and lamb gyros from a turning spit. The beefteki is ground beef that's been seasoned and shaped into a long log, not at all visually...
Read moreI can't believe that I waited so long to try Souvlaki Boys! Visited for the first time on Saturday and couldn't have been more impressed! I called ahead, not knowing if it was take out only. Expressed that I was a first time customer and the gentleman I spoke with said that the dining room was closed, but that customers are able to enter the restaurant and order inside for take out. He also offered to go over the menu, answer any questions, etc. When we arrived an hour or so later, we were immediately greeted by Michael, who is the owner. He asked if I was the person who called in earlier and then immediately grabbed a menu to answer all of our questions and make recommendations, which was so helpful, not to mention kind and over-the-top professional. I ordered the classic Gyro with pork and my fiance ordered the Zeus, with the pork and chicken souvlaki. We also got a side of their Greek fries. Everything was absolutely delicious! The fries were freshly cooked, hot, crispy and perfectly seasoned with Greek oregano. The tzatziki sauce was the best I've ever had! I tried the chicken out of my fiance's Gyro and it was amazing.......perfectly grilled with great flavor. Kudos to Michael and his impressive staff! I'm sold on Souvlaki Boys and can't wait to try more items...
Read moreThis is probably the best first decision I Made today. After signing a lease and committing to Lancaster Pennsylvania, I was in desperate need of good food. I lived in New York City for many years and food is honestly the greatest thing the city has to offer so moving to another city was going to be hard....
So I thought !
Decided to use Yelp and look for great food and the first thing that came up was Souvlaki Boys! After finding parking and entering, the crew was ready to assist me. From the manager to the cooks, to the owner I was greeted with a warm welcome and excellent customer service and I couldn’t argue for any kind of reason but feel at home.
As a complementary i was given their secret feta cheese which had a little kick to it ( was amazing ), followed by their famous GYRO! This was gigantic stuffed with so many fresh herbs, veggies topped with a great tzataki sauce! I highly recommend them to any person interested in Greek food as well as excellent food for an amazing PRICE!
Thanks guys and I will be back! Great service...
