Celebrated my 46th birthday here last night with my wife for dinner. From start to finish, the food and service was amazing. There are two levels in this restaurant, the first floor which is where we were seated for our dinner, and upstairs. Both levels are extremely small, but very quaint and laid out comfortably. If you are wondering how small the restaurant was, I would compare it to Rao's in NYC if you have ever been there in terms of size, maybe a tad bigger.
There was no wait when we arrived, and we arrived promptly for our 5:30PM reservation. I ordered the half steamed mussels for my appetizer and was a good portion for a half a size. I think the full size probably could have been a meal on its own. The broth for the mussels was delicious and flavorful. One thing I would say if the restaurant reads this review, is to include some sort of bread with the mussels so a person (like me) can do some dipping in the broth. That was the only thing that was missing from this appetizer to give it a flawless serving. Even the presentation that it came in was different to see as you can see from the pics I provided.
For dinner, I had the Short Rib and my wife had the Chicken Piccata. Both were equally amazing. My short rib peeled away with the slight pull of the fork. What made my dish so good in my opinion was the grits. The grits, really elevated the flavor pallet of this dish and complimented the short rib so well. The portion was large but felt light at the same time. I honestly could have eaten another portion, that is how good it was. For dessert, we had the Tropical Cheesecake. The addition of the diced up pineapples and mango gelee with the touch of pineapple crumb, made this cheesecake to die for. It was not heavy like a traditional cheesecake you would come across. It was light, vibrant, and the perfect choice to the end of a great dinner.
Coming from N.Y., I believe I have a good personal opinion on good food, having eaten at some of the top restaurants in the country, and The Belvedere Inn was definitely a surprise in terms of atmosphere, service, and food quality. I would definitely would not hesitate to dine here again. Thanks for making my 46th a...

If you are looking for an old world charming restaurant, this place is for you! Set in The John S. Rohrer Mansion, the Belvedere Inn opened in 1998. This Victorian Italianate Style mansion was built in 1869. John was a Tobacco dealer from Strasburg and would use the house to entertain out of town guests.
There are several dining rooms including an upstairs outdoor patio. Beautiful dark wood thruout, white Linen Service, large framed mirrors, Chandeliers and ornate lighting make up the interior. Definitely my kind of place!
They serve you a slightly warm roll with soft whipped butter that’s absolutely delicious. There’s an unwritten rule that if the bread is good, the cuisine is good…
The greens… Signature Grilled Caesar Salad… Char-grilled Romaine, Caesar Dressing, Parmesan Cheese, Croutons… I ordered the petite as I didn’t want to fill up before the main course. Loved the Croutons!
Next Course, a cup of Lobster Bisque… Cream, Lobster and Brandy. Another great dish with the consistency of a creamy broth. Not the usual thick Bisque served elsewhere. With an amazing flavour and nice chunks of fresh Lobster meat… I’m from New England and I’m telling you this soup was great!
For the main this evening, the Grilled Filet Mignon… 8 Oz Beef Tenderloin, Root Vegetable Asiago Potato Gratin, Asparagus, Au Poivre Sauce… The Filet could not be cooked any more perfect. And as far as the Gratin…, Carrot and Potato the likes of which I’ve never seen! How they do the potatoes perfectly while keeping the Carrots crunchy I’ll never know. And then there’s the Asparagus… Wow!
It took every ounce of willpower to not order dessert with all of the offerings on the menu but given the number of meals I have out, I have to exercise some restraint. I did however finish with my signature Cappuccino…
This is a Dining Adventure I’ll not soon forget. And remember…, when you come here, tell ‘em Paul sent you… It bears...
Read moreWe called at last minute & we were able to get 6:15pm reservations & told the young man on the phone it was our wedding anniversary & we had beautiful note on our table wishing us a happy anniversary & my husband had the prime rib special & I had the scallops ( they had way too much salt or seasoning but, they were cook too perfection & the other then the Scallops being too salty, beet salad was amazing & the dressing was awesome & the mussels were perfectly cooked & white sause was amazing & the dessert crème brûlée was amazing! Next visit I will make sure to say no salt or seasoning on my scallops when you don’t use salt and they put so much on it’s very disturbing. But, I would definitely order scallops again but, Will make sure I clarify no salt or not too much seasoning& I swapped for spinach instead of other vegetable scallops came with but, I could not eat spinach because it was put underneath the scallops and the sauce that was pretty good just way too salty! Our waitress Ms. Lindsay was a very good waitress except, we had to continually to ask a bust boy or someone else to refill our water glasses. But, the table next to ours without asking our waitress Lindsay brought that table next to ours & another table a pitcher of water. Which she should have brought us the pitcher of water. We gave our waitress Lindsay over a 20% tip anyway. We would definitely recommend our friends & family & we will definitely come back to your fine 5 star restaurant & this time we will book in advance to get the private roof top igloo. Thanks for a wonderful wedding...
