The Fat Crab Cafe — Restaurant in Lancaster

What a wonderful place to eat. Our waitress was so nice and helpful. We really enjoyed our chat with her. This is in a small place with a small parking lot. But there is free parking on the street. There are not a lot of tables but it is so worth going. The seafood is fresh as it is a seafood market as well. The Fat Crab is inside of the market. Go up to the counter and order and pay for your food. They bring it to your table. We got the Shrimp Po'boy sandwiches with fat plumb shrimp with wonderful seasoning. Also got crab cornbread, new london crab soup. Oh the chips have a season on them that is so so good! And the cornbread is scrumptious. I asked what they put in the cornbread and our waitress gave me the secret to it that I will try to make myself. Oh and the tarter sauce was very good too. We had the best meal of our trip here! Ordered crab cake sandwiches and fries. The crab cakes were so hot that we each had to take the sandwich apart and wait for it to cool down. I burned my mouth with the first bite. They had absolutely no flavor at all. There were no seasonings in them. They were mushy to the point of the bottom half of the bun being soaked, and had no color at all, just white mush on a bun. It was quite obvious by the temp of them, the color and texture that they were microwaved...and for too long. Worst crab cakes we ever had. The bun was not fresh either. Tables were sticky, flies were buzzing around, place did not look clean. Staff were not very helpful. First time visiting, did not know that you had to place your order at the counter. BEST seafood meal we've had in a long time!!! We went several weeks ago but still wanted to give a great review, because we both still think about how good the meal was! For 2 people, we got Poseidon's Plate and Dungeness Crab (special they had that day) and split these plates. We aren't crab cake lovers because usually not enough crab. The crab cake was crab, and little filler was added. It was awesome!! All the seafood was cooked perfectly. All seafood was nice size portions. Our sides were Mac & Cheese & asparagus.
