Lovely place. We kinda felt like sushi, so we stopped by, but after seeing the menu, i decided to maybe go with thai instead. And so we got the Oka Roll, the Crusty Krab Roll, the Boston Roll, the Massarma(?) Curry, and some Purple Haze sake. 2 of the rolls were very large portions (like 12 pieces!!) and the curry came in a bowl that looked more like a pot. I didnt really like the sushi, as there werent enough tastes for my liking, but the SO liked them. The curry was thin and soupy but still good, even though im more accustomed to thicker, more indian curry. The sake was definitely unique. Kinda reminded me of a fruity wine, but a bit stranger. And its ok when its hot, but just plain wierd when it cools. The atmosphere was pretty good; nice enough to bring a date, but cozy enough to go out with a group of friends. It wasnt too dark, but also wasnt super bright. When we came in around 5ish, it wasnt busy, but it really filled up by about 6. The crowd was very diverse, too. A lot of the customers were college aged (which probably has a lot to do with the fact that theres a college across the street), but there were a few families, a group of white-haired people, a group of older ladies, and some pairs that looked like dates. The service was not bad, but it could have been a little better. Our server was friendly and engaging, but it seemed like he forgot about us after we got our food. I know its difficult for servers to walk the thin line of ignoring vs overbearing, but it cant hurt to check on your tables once or twice after you bring them their orders. The food did come out fairly quick, though, so the speed of service was good. One thing we really didnt like was how close together all the tables were. Yes, its a busy place, and yes, more people will fit when there are more tables, but if you can clearly hear the conversations of the people on either side of you, maybe they are a teeny bit too close together. We would give it 3.5 stars if we could, but 4...
Read moreThe service was good but I had the worst California roll I've ever eaten in my entire life! I've been eating sushi since before I could even spell sushi and I can confidently say that this restaurant does not know how to make a California roll. Rather than few slim pieces of cucumber in the roll, there were many many shreds of cucumber skin. Just the skin! None of the cucumber insides! The inside of this roll was 25% crabstick, 25% avocado, and 50% shredded cucumber skin. I actually had to remove most of the cucumber from the roll to make eating it remotely pleasant. I'd be willing to tolerate a little bit of cucumber skin in my roll, but this roll was almost entirely cucumber skin. You can even see the excessive cucumber skin in the photos posted here by other patrons. It felt like I was eating a roll stuffed with tough blades of grass. I am reluctant to ever return because I do not trust a sushi restaurant that can stuff that much cucumber skin into a roll and think that's acceptable. Especially a California roll, the most basic sushi roll on the planet, the roll they teach you in day 1 of Sushi...
Read moreWill not be returning. Ordered dinner for take out. Packed my masago in a too large container without properly supporting it and it was a total mess when we got it home. Then find out they gave us the wrong order for my dinner. We had to take it back. I’m not at all impressed with their sushi menu. Out of 16 “chef signature rolls” 11 have “spicy tuna” “spicy salmon” etc. the puréed fish stuffed inside . To me this might be good way of using up their less than appealing fish. So I never order it. Not much else to choose from then. Service is underwhelming and cold. We tried here once before and were not impressed but gave it another go. Mistake. Ginmya at manor shopping center is my number one choice for sushi in Lancaster and I won’t be going elsewhere even if it’s closer. I will say the quality of sashimi is fine. Good texture and...
