Whataburger — Restaurant in Lancaster

Whataburger is definitely a Texas staple, My favorite meal is the Patty Melt, Fries and a Dr. Pepper Malt when available, it's a seasonal thing. For Breakfast I like the Breakfast Burrito with cheese please, And the size of the large is definitely as Large as Texas. Oh and the sweet tea is my 2nd favorite drink. What I like least after visiting some Whataburger's is the long lines, cold or refried fries, and old tea that has sat too long, or too sweet, sometimes the not sweet enough tea is ok, but it tastes watered down. I switched to the Patty Melt because My burger of Choice is A Cheeseburger, Mustard Lettuce and Onions only, but even after repeating it back it comes wrong in the bag. That was too frustrating to me, especially when the meal used to be 5 bucks and now it's three times that. I'm starting to move more to the MOM and POP spots for good burgers, my new thing is the smash burger joints, These type spots still make burgers to order just like you order it. Most have fresh locally resourced veggies. The buns are cooked on both sides on the grill and not in a toaster, And the meat is not microwaved to heat up. The grill marks are real and do not have chemically smoke flavor added. I like my fries just a potato diced and sea salt, not genetically modified Frankenstein Fries with 52 chemicals in them, I want my beef to be fresh ground beef, no added dies and chemicals, I want my chicken to be chicken, no hormones and antibiotics, don't die my veggies to look fresh, we all know it's shelf stored. YEAH I remember a time when you didn't have to read the Nutritional Value of a burger, It was Real Bread, Real Meat, Real Condiments, Real Veggies and Real Cheese, and don't get me started on the fake ice creams that have no dairy in it. It's too hard trying to keep up with who is trying to feed us at a reasonable price and which places are poisonous. Let's get better, let's do better, get this right, choose People over Profits, If the franchises from California can do it and pay the employees a liveable wage,...

So, this is a first for me. I have been to this location twice (today being the second time).

The first time I was served very promptly by a very nice and sweet lady. They were busy as to be expected with a dinner rush. I am in no hurry and I do not mind waiting. It took about 15 minutes to get my food.

The place is clean with only a single stray fry that, I assume, 4 tiny ants ordered to-go. The kitchen looked very clean and they were out making sure every table was wiped down. A+!

However, today was a different experience.

The place was again very spotless and this is enough to bring me back.

I was in line behind two people (they were together). They waited for 3-5 minutes and had even been vocal about it to the staff.

One young lady came out from the lobby, opened the register and took their order. As the two stepped aside, I stepped forward and the lady looked at me and walked off.....she said nothing. I stood there for about 5 minutes. SEVERAL team members made eye contact with me. One yelled to another that I was at the counter. Still no acknowledgement from anyone. Again, someone else yelled "Yo! There is a white man at the counter"

After about 2 minutes Jeffery, another white man, came from the back and took my order.

Jeffery was very nice. Again, no issues with the food or cleanliness. But, I do feel that I was ignored by 99% of the staff because I am white.

Why would I think that?! You may ask. Well the two people who ordered before me were black. One of the staff literally made a statement that "a white man is waiting" and That they basically pulled, who i assume, the only other white guy from the back just to...

Hello my name is Melba l came to this terrible location 8/19/2018 @ 5:05 pm l ordered a #1 and whata chicken bites combo for my son Dennis which turn 9 that day so decided to stop @ Whata burgers for his birthday....Jamie the order taker was very rude she rushed my oreder as l was asking my son what he wanted....so that wasn't enough l paid almost $20 for two orders to wait 17min in the drive way...l get our orders believing to be correct and the fries are not fresh as asked when ordered my son bites fried so hard their almost burnt and very small from being overly cooked. Drinks where watered down as is they added water...so l drive off take a bite of my burger to notice my lettuce brown not fresh tomatoes on my burger which lm allergic to and no CHEESE...so l go back thru drive only to speak with the manger Mariah which works the window laughs as l asked for cheese and a manager...as a present Leader of the Grill at whata Burger which l happen to use to be the service was terribly bad and manager on shift was more afraid of his shift to correct that at the moment....he should have a apologized fixed my oreder which he DID NOT he allows these same employees's that messed up my order and laugh in my face to do so!!
