Bojangles
The drive thru was wrapped around the building- twice! Driving through the parking lot alone was chaotic. There were workers outside directing traffic. We parked and went inside. By the time we came out, Dallas PD had two cars blocking a portion of the parking lot to assist with the heavy flow of traffic to this restaurant.
Inside, there were a few booths along either side of the dining room and tables in the middle, but nowhere to sit because of the crowd. Under different circumstances, the dine-in space would be sufficient.
This location was staffed almost entirely with teenagers, but there was one adult in the back who easily held the restaurant and teenagers together without breaking her stride. The order line moved efficiently and the food came out at a reasonable speed, under the circumstances.
Despite being extremely busy, the two unisex bathrooms were very clean. This is usually the first place to suffer.
Chicken: Well seasoned, tender and juicy with a kiss of spice. Larger pieces than expected.
Cole slaw: Fresh, crisp and creamy. 10 out of 10, recommend. Will definitely order again.
Mac n cheese: Blue box 2.0 The mac and cheese is reminiscent of a Kraft blue box that was upgraded by someone's Southern aunt or grandma.
Dirty rice: Delicious. If you aren't a big meat eater, it has enough meat to be considered a main course. I'm picky about dirty rice, but would order this one again.
Biscuit: Moist and flaky. Not dense like other restaurants. A touch of butter on top would been a game changer.
Sweet tea: No tannins were tasted.Ā The tea had the perfect amount of sweetness. It was sweet enough to refresh the palate while eating savory foods, but not so sweet that you can't enjoy dessert while drinking it.
Peach cobbler: They serve a biscuit topped with a peach compote and what looks like a touch of cream/icing as a finish. It definitely tastes better warm, but there was a spice used that I could not identify. It made me more baffled/curious than satisfied. Will have to try other desserts.
I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGot the chicken sandwich BLT combo, biscuit and mac&cheese. Ordered online, was told to come inside to pick it up at the drive thru (not a long line of cars like just 2 cars). The real reason why, because they will only put your order together when you are physically there and I mean inside the building. So why make an online order even a thing. Came inside just before noon. The location was not super busy but not vacant. With no line, I waited about 5-7 mins before I had to state my online order business to the front cashier who was also a dine-in food handler who stated to give her a moment. As time passed, it just seemed like she forgot I was there or something. She was working to put dine-in patrons meals together but took awhile to even acknowledge me for my business or if I had a concern (maybe a short staff issue, seemed to have enough employees) maybe to many hats issue or lack of multi-tasking. Anyways, she started to put my meal together and handed it to me not asking if I needed anything or even proceed to provide me any plastic utensils or ketchup, or anything really (the dine-in area does not have this around at the time of my visit just empty holders). Just here is your stuff and bye. Good thing I didn't leave. Checked my bag, obviously no cutlery but missing fries. Went back to ask for missing fries respectfully. Again, without any words, just got the fries and handed it to me.
I have never been to a Bojangles. But honestly would never come back. It just seems like it is doomed to fail at this Lancaster location. Customer service is lacking, online ordering just seems more like a restaurant guarantee and not a patron guarantee, and there is no meal quality check. It seems this location may need a good manager to over see drive thru and dining in service as the food quality itself is not the issue. Also, when departing as I ate in the lobby, overheard some other customers stating they were missing a count or two of tenders. So yea, probably and most likely not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate to Post. No, Nope, and hockey sticks No.. at this rate & unfortunately, this Bojangles won't be in Desoto very long nor in TX if the food/service offered is the same as my most recent experience. Went after work to get some "chicken" NOT tenders. No chicken on the menu.. but ordered anyway to support as my brother listened to the convo exchange and he was as baffled as I was in the end. While waiting for my order (tenders w/ dirty rice, etc) w/ the infamous berry biscuits, I casually ask "when will you all start serving "CHICKEN".. the thing that they r known for. The response, given in a non-chalant, you bothering me kinda way, "O, we not selling no chicken, never". Wait.. what..I'm taken aback and ask why? Response, "It take too long to cook chicken". WTH... u r a chicken eatery. I'm taken aback again.. u gotta fry "fries" just like u gotta bake biscuits. My thought as I ponder on this is...other "chicken" places cook/fry chicken and a good operator would train/teach staff to cook so that it is ready and in abundance at peak times and they'd learn when to "drop" more. So, ok I guess I'll have to stick w/ Popeyes, KFC, Williams, Luci's, etc. Now onto the sides - got home and the dirty rice is not dirty but more like rice n gravy, the berry biscuits were too hard to eat. I was so hungry, eagerly awaiting my meal for a huge let-down, and I don't get it!!! but I do know for sure, I WON'T be back. Note, patrons seeking chicken do understand the dynamic of cooking chicken just as they do frying fries. Original Post: Born and raised in BR, La and this was a staple for us so when I saw they were coming to DFW I was elated.. after I saw they were coming w/in rock throwing distance from me, I became elated.
