Pros: Convenient parking and location, decent coffee, lots of non-dairy milk choices. Comparable prices to other boutique coffee shops like Blue Owl or Strange Matter. Good food options if you eat meat and lots of great smoothie/protein options which are perfect for the gym next door.
Cons: The tables and chairs are really tiny, and all the tables are attached to the wall so it feels cramped. There's almost not enough room for my coffee next to my laptop and definitely not enough room if I had papers or anything. There would definitely be no space for group projects - it's not a coffee shop I would want to stay very long at. There was only one vegetarian food option. Someone came in looking for a gluten-free soup and the person working couldn't say which options were gluten-free with confidence.
Overall, decent coffee and variety of food options for a take-out, but not somewhere I'd like to stay...
Read moreI read an article about this coffee shop in one of the local papers...maybe City Pulse? I was suprised by the claim made regarding dark roast coffee. They say they dont offer dark roast out of respect for the bean and the roaster. They find that a large percentage of people are looking for the full, robust flavor of a dark roast, but not the bitter aspect. As an avid dark roast drinker, I wanted to try this place out to expand my coffee experience and test this theory. I walked in with an open mind and walked out with the most bitter cup of coffee I possibly have ever tasted. I'm not sure what happened. The urban cup left a very bitter taste in my mouth, I only took a few sips and threw it in the trash. Not impressed, not swayed by their claim. If you are going to make such bold statements, back...
Read moreThis is one of the quaintest and relaxed coffee shops you will find! I ordered a lavender latte which was beautifully made. The perfect amount of sweetness and the best hint of lavender. The combination can be hard to find since many coffee places overdo one or the other. My coffee meeting was later in the morning and before lunch, so I wasn't able to sample the food, but I have no doubt it will be delish!
One thing for those who have never heard about Urban Cup; it is located next to the M43 gym, which is why for the longest time I thought Urban Cup was a promotion for a kettle bell competition (smh), lol! Then I Googled. So, that was my bad, but thought it would be helpful for anyone else who has driven by and not quite realized the gem...
