LeRoy's Classic Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Lansing

They get 5 stars by virtue of the food, but the service was initially sadly disappointing last night (Monday 8/28/23) although they did save the review and we left smiling.

Burgers are on point - the right amount of greasy, the right amount of bun, the right amount of condiment action. Fried foods (mushrooms, onion rings) are crispy and the batter they use isn’t chewy or under-done, but also not burnt.

The owner (I believe) saved the review by coming out and beginning to apologize after we had waited 25 minutes to order, at which point he saw the death glare my wife was shooting at him and correctly said “you know what - I’m not making excuses we should’ve done better”.

Kudos to him - that is what ownership is about and even if things didn’t start off great, I really appreciate when folks honestly try to make things right, without any prodding from myself - I didn’t need to say anything other than that we had waited a long...

The food was good, we both got different burgers and fries, with cheese sticks for an appetizer.

The server was very very slow to come to us, when she did she took our order and disappeared again for at least 15 to 20 minutes before checking on us for ordering out entrees after we received our appetizer, which was brought out by kitchen staff, who also brought out the burgers and fries we got. Drinks were left empty for long periods of time and empty glasses and cleared off plates/baskets were left on the table after the few times our waitress did come back.

The place wasn't that busy inside, with several empty tables around the area, and the other tables our server was handling were also barely checked on as well.

They had a trivia night which was alright, fairly short and a decent random selection of questions.

Okay look this place has been around a long time. And they're definitely your local bar and grill. they put this nice off the back side of the bar kind of second level open to the world dining area with a view on the back of the place it looks like in the summer and nice weather all the stylish garage door walls go up to put you at a second level open-air dining experience. They cook everything off the smallest Grill that's got to be left in existence in anybody's kitchen and they ain't got a kitchen it's just right behind the bar but they kick ass off that little Grill the place is always busy it's always a mix of cultures in there and frankly a wide range in ages you'll see in there too it's like the perfect Community blend of people! price is still excellent, food is very good for a bar and grill the hamburger I had last night had the most softest hamburger bun I've had in awhile...
