Known as a Finnish bakery. Can buy hot or iced coffee. Sit outside or inside and watch the traffic and people. Two tables inside and more outside with umbrellas. Favorite spot for the locals. Sells Finnish coffee, pastries and breads. I buy the ruise rye bread. It's a hard bread. The coffee bread with cardamom called pulla. My favorite is the sugared donut. It is a denser donut with yeast. It has a pleasant richer taste. Its not always available. You can order anything and they can make it for you to be picked up later. They somtimes have a tray of pastries that are day old for half price. You can order two types of cakes. I just remember one that has a cake that is not as sweet with whipped cream and fruit. The cheapest cake and smallest cake was 37.00. They can decorate the top. Price goes up as the size increases. Half faced sandwhiches with butter, smoked salmon, fresh dill and egg is good. You can buy a cup of coffee. It's a small shop but service is quick. Staff is friendly and get...
ย ย ย Read moreVisited today with my young son. Located in a quiet part of Lantana, this bakery outwardly show all the right signs. It looks pretty and has groups of people sitting outside enjoying a coffee etc. Its owned by a Finn and I noticed that one of the groups was speaking Finnish. On to the bakery, small and simple with a selection of pastries on display. The appearance is good. We had almond croissants, plain croissants, a danish and a rectangular jelly filled doughnut. The latter was placed in a paper bag which immediately showed grease stains coming through. I tried it and it was so oily I had to throw it away. Almond croissants had a very chewy dough, as did the plain ones. The danish, again, I had issues with the dough, although it did have a pleasant lemony filling. I sincerely hope it was an off day, perhaps the baker/s were on leave, but I wonโt be...
ย ย ย Read moreI was between clients in this neighborhood and had an hour to kill. I remember passing this place a few times and thought it would be the perfect coffee shop to hang out for a while. It's a small, homey cafe/bakery, owned and operated by a father and son team who are Finnish, which clearly reflects in all the baked goods and rustic breads they sell. I loved the neighborhood feel to it, the friendliness of the owner, the great pastry and coffee. There was a constant stream of people coming in and almost all of them spoke Finnish. Who knew there was such a large population of Finnish speaking people?! There is outdoor seating and a few tables and chairs inside. I wish there were more places like this in South Florida. I will definitely be back here. My...
