Extremely Disappointing – Overpriced, Cramped, and Sneaky Charges

We were really looking forward to trying Victoria’s Peruvian Café, but it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a while.

First, the wait — we had to stand outside for over 40 minutes just to be seated. Once we finally got in, we realized the place isn’t even equipped to handle groups. It’s clearly designed for solo diners or pairs, with only about four tiny tables total. We were a group of five tall adults, and they squeezed us into a space meant for two. It was uncomfortable, crowded, and borderline ridiculous.

The location is behind a railroad track, and yet they’re charging like it’s some upscale brunch spot. Over $30 per person for breakfast? And $9+ for smoothies? That’s just price-gouging at this point.

And here’s the worst part: they automatically added a 20% tip to our bill — for a party of five. Not only is that not industry standard (typically it's added for parties of six or more), but to charge that after providing cramped seating, poor service, and a long wait? Completely unacceptable.

It honestly felt like they were just trying to take advantage of customers — squeezing every dollar they can without delivering the experience to match. In Spanish, we’d say they’re aprovechadores (opportunists) and gorriando (mooching off people without offering value in return). That’s exactly what this felt like.

We left feeling frustrated and ripped off. There are far better and more honest spots to eat — don’t waste your time...

It is so cute inside. We went for coffee and desserts, and we were so pleased we stopped by to see what they had to offer. We greeted as soon as we walked in. Rosa was friendly and very welcoming. She made us 2 cafes con leche a plate picarones (Peruvian donuts with a warm honey sauce drizzled on top). We also had a combinado half is a creamy rice pudding, and the other half is a jello made from the boiling Peruvian purple corn with cinnamon and pieces of pineapple. Everything was delicious. We wanted an excellent authentic Peruvian breakfast. When we arrived, all the tables were full and we made a reservation. There was some confusion and they gave our table away, but the owner came out and apologized, and we were taken care of quickly. We decided to take the food to go and it was delicious as always.
