Hidden gem in Laredo, and now one of my favorite restaurants in Laredo. Food went beyond my expectations, service was excellent and prices are acceptable as it's located in a nice area. To drink we got Café Lechero (served in the traditional way as in Veracruz), which is basically coffee extract and milk served from a long distance to get oxygen into the milk and make a nice foaming coffee, unfortunately it doesn't include refills but is worth it. To eat we got several plates, and every single dish was extremely good, I got the Barbacoa Flautas (crispy on the outside, creamy and soft on the inside, also the Barbacoa was Veracruz style so tastes different than the usual Barbacoa from Laredo), my partner got the Mini Sopes Pibil (small corn based sopes with Cochinita Pibil), Tamal Parroquia (the only complaint about this one is that the tamal itself is not filled with the Cochinita, instead it's just the tamal without any filling, but instead everything is on top, it comes with Cochinita, salsa de frijol, crema, etc... Read moreDecided to take the family for a mother’s day brunch on May 10th around 10am. Called 3 days in advance to see if they took reservations and I was informed that they did not so we just had to show up and join the waiting list, which we accepted. My family and I show up and are “greeted” by a very rude staff member who stated that we could leave if we didn’t like the 30 min wait time after we were told that parties with reservations came first. We informed her that we would wait and that we had asked about reservations, but were told they were not accepted. Thats when her attitude got worse. Other than that- We heard good things about this place so after waiting about an hour, we were seated. The food was delicious and the waiter was extremely pleasant, but having someone with such an unpleasant attitude as a greeter will turn...
Read moreCons: Overpriced and small portions at lease on the chilaquiles. I went around noon I ordered chilaquiles. They were about $15 and it seemed overpriced for tortilla chips, salsa, 2 eggs, avocado and cheese. They looked yummy on the photo I saw online but they were a small plate, not generous, they were ok a bit of too much savor on the salsa which I don’t like because it hides the other flavors. Pros: Servers were very nice, place was clean and cool, a few customers only. I was served real quickly almost 2 mins after seating. The terraza looked nice for a night visit. I’ll give it another chance and try something else. Maybe the server knew about the small portion of the chilaquiles because he tried to convince me to order other items instead...
