ROCHAS BAR & GRILL — Restaurant in Laredo

We were extremely impressed by Rocha's! We were staying nearby on a business trip and looked online for a menu that would meet various dietary needs. Rocha's had a diverse, but not overly padded menu. We ordered the choriqueso and guacamole for appetizers, and our entrees were the Grilled Chicken Salad and my partner had the Enchilladas con Pollo. I was pleasantly surprised at the enormous chicken breast and presentation of the salad. It was so fresh and delicious- and not painfully over-seasoned. The enchiladas were also outstanding. The food, while very authentic Mexican fare, seemed to have almost undetectable hints of another ethnic fusion. (We are guessing Moroccan? Middle Eastern?) Whatever it was, it was fantastic. It was an excellent value. And... the server Martin was attentive and helpful. We had near perfect service from him, and he was kind and personable. The restaurant itself is rather nondescript on the outside but boasts a tasteful blend of old world and modern contemporary vibes. Came here for dinner on our anniversary. Was expecting a little more upscale dining experience for sure considering this place is chef owned. Ordered the puffy Pancho's with fajita and they did not disappoint. The puffy chips were really really good. I ordered the Chicharron de Catan and was really impressed. The Catan was really flavorful and cooked to perfection. The only recommendation would be to substitute the refried beans with a black bean, kidney bean, and corn mix that would pair better with the rest of the plate. My wife ordered the tampiquena plate which had fajita, puffy taco, enchiladas, rice and charro beans. The charro beans were really good. The fajita though very flavorful was a bit tough. The puffy taco was good. Must be something about the puffy tortilla that makes them really standout. The rest of the plate was on par with other places except for the enchiladas. This was a great Restaurant. Service was stupendous n the waiter- did not get his name but was well attentive. We arrived on Sat. Around 4pm. n the Restaurant was a bit Crowded n we sat outside in the patio where we were entertained by a DJ playing great music n with time passing patio Getting more Crowded tho seems everyone Was being well waited on with no problems. Drinks were Awesome Oh the Rachero Steak Plate was so good n the meat was so well seasoned n tender. This was my 1st time here n reason was Intrigued was seeing the advertisement from Sunday's newspaper.
