Done in 2021. I tried it again just to see. Charged me 8.99 for salsa and 4.50 for chips.... 13.50 are you serious. You charged me more for chips and salsa than my meal! And when you try to put in a complaint about the order being wrong or anything it just bounces back to you. You guys need to get it together. Your going to lose all your local customers.
Wonderful server, love the very mild and fresh tasting salsa, crispy taco was like a small taco salad so good! Rice was exactly like I like it light and fluffy, refried beans bland but that's like I like them, brown sauce on enchiladas was a bit spicey. My only complaint. Will be back to try more! EDIT They put the brown sauce on chimichangas as well. Which is really weird and it doesn't say it in the description. Kind of disappointing to find the crispy fried wonderfulness smothered in gravy. But kids meal fries so cute!
Don't think I will go again on Saturday. Very busy. Service a little non attentive and not that friendly(busy so I understand). But food was A+
So I've ordered 3 times since we started the pandemic. I have to say I'm kind of disappointed in the way they have handled the to go. Every other place I've ordered from has been over compensating. And recognizing that we're coming even though it's not the same as coming in. Where other places have given free deserts and kids meals. I'm being charged for chips and salsa. Something I would get for free if I came in and sat down. The first time I brushed it off. The second time I asked and he gave me a chip and salsa for a few dollars. This time I was charged $8 for chips and salsa. Because the chips cost $3. Really? Wow. I think I'll wait to come back until I feel comfortable going in. Which sucks because this is my favorite Mexican place. But I find it irritating that I'm paying for something I would get for free if I came in. You guys really need to work on your to go. And tonight my sons chicken tenders were burnt. Yuck
So it's been about 1 month since we ordered thought I'd try it again and they charged me $7.50 for a tiny salsa and chips. I'm never coming again. That's what you get for supporting your...
Read moreLiterally, the best Mexican food in St Petersburg. I'm a little biased though because I grew up eating here with my family when we'd go out for dinner some nights so I have a lot of memories in this place. But memories only say so much and I think it speaks volumes that after 20+years of dining in, ordering out and having meals delivered that the food is still as good as ever. I love their taco salad. It was my favorite as a kid and I still order it now. Fresh, crunchy shell and a big bowl of fresh mixed veggies, choice of meat (I like the shredded chicken the best), cheese, sour cream and nothing would be the same without topping it off with plenty of fresh salsa! Carmelita's has ALWAYS had the best fresh salsa. I love the taste and you can taste the freshness. I'll keep my memories in my heart and my menu in my hand for next time we have a hankering for some old favorites like their Mexican pizza, enchiladas, chile rellenos and seriously, anything on the menu is gonna be good. Sadly, no pictures this time around for the review. We ordered delivery and were so hungry and it smelled so good - the food didn't stand a chance of catching a pic before being enjoyed. Next time. Sidenote - I've eaten at probably all locations that I know about and all three have consistent quality, taste and freshness. The staff has always been really friendly throughout and I literally have no complaints. That's a hard one for me. Again, they're keeping it real, doing their thing. There's no gimmick. Just good food, good service and that will win hands down every time. I hope to be visiting for the next 20+years as well. I would recommend any of the locations but have to admit my favorite is the one in Park Street - only because that's the main one we visited as kids. I guess I have a new favorite location after all these years and I'm proud to say it's very, very...
Read moreThis Carmelita’s does not feel like it is a part of this food chain. They often make mistakes on orders and their customer service is not good. I’ve tried many times to go to it because it is so close but to be honest for the last several years I have driven out of my way to go past them to the other one located much further away. I have never written a bad review but today I tried to go their again…. I called 30 minutes before closing to place an order just for nachos. They said sorry we don’t take to go orders are the phone this close to closing and I said OK so you want me to drive there in person and place the order and they said yes and I said I’ll be getting there five minutes before you close is that OK? And they said yes. So instead of choosing another restaurant That closes at the same time and placing it to go order, I trusted because I talk to them on the phone and they wanted me to come in person to place my order so I did. I got there five minutes before closing time. Actually a couple minutes early probably seven minutes before closing time and they are locking the door and walking out. I said I just talk to somebody on the phone and they told me to come here in person to place my order and now it’s too late to go anywhere else and you’re closed? Could you have at least just said sorry we’re not taking any more orders. We’re closing early and I wouldn’t have driven 20 minutes to get to you and I would’ve chose another restaurant. It was obvious the person in the parking lot was the person I spoke to on the phone and they did not care at all. I will never be back, and everyone that I speak to her years. I have already told them to avoid this particular Carmelita’s, and I have actually been told from friends of mine to avoid this Carmelita‘s. Save yourself the trouble and drive an extra 15-20 minutes to go to the other one. It’s 100...
