I'll preface this review by saying this occurred months ago and this has stuck with me for quite a while. I have not revisited this restaurant since then and do not have any plans to return to it. So I'm sorry if that somehow makes my review any less valid.
During lunch, I had placed an online order for several of the Fresh Chicken Tenders because Jasper's makes a very uniquely flavored tender and honey mustard sauce that had me coming back. I've only been there a couple times via pickup, but anytime I went there was always this particularly curt man that takes the orders to the car. When I receive my order I realize that the one I had placed was for the appetizer variant of the tenders instead of the lunch variant. I feel this is an extremely easy mistake to make because when you go on the website, both are marked for the price of $9.95. It's just that the lunch variant has fries. I wave the guy over and ask if I could get fries with my tenders, seeing as it was still lunch and they were priced the same, it clearly wouldn't be an issue to just give that to me despite my mistake right?
Well he didn't agree; tells me no, I had ordered the appetizer and can't do that. I explain that they're priced exactly the same and it was still lunch time, so surely you could just get me some fries for the orders despite my mistake. Still no. Well I wasn't going to leave without fries, so I was thinking I could be equally as petty about it and just return the order entirely and place it again, but instead I decided to speak to the manager so I could just get on with my day. So he goes inside to fetch them and I sat in my car. Moments later he comes back out with the fries and relays a message from the manager, that never came out by the way, that this will the only time they'd be doing this. Uh, you guys aren't doing me a favor, you think I have to go to your restaurant??? I gave you money for the food, I'm getting what I should rightfully get. I've never seen a server act like they were doing me a favor for asking for something so simple. How arrogant can you be?
I'm just here thinking in my head, is this where customer service really is at in this place, where you're fighting the customer that was about to be a regular to your establishment over some fries? Fries that wouldn't have incurred any extra charge because the meal cost exactly the same as the appetizer? Was that worth it? I really question what the thought process was with those individuals then; this was your opportunity to step up to the plate and do right by the customer, but instead you decide to be petty. And I still remember this many months later.
There's far more options in the area than this one with such abysmal customer service. Food is more expensive than it's ever been and I have to be selective with my choices of eatery. Jasper's Restaurant certainly won't be among them. You guys better be cautious how you treat your customers, cause it only takes some bad publicity before people start leaving it droves. Chevy's in Greenbelt closed, as well as Friday's in Bowie too just recently. You guys need to do better if you want to continue succeeding in this cutthroat economy.
And in case anyone doubts that they weren't the same price, you can go check on the website for such: Fresh Chicken Tenders Appetizer & Lunch Fresh Chicken Tenders. Both for $9.95. Yes, it was my error, but it is an easy...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I usually enjoy Jaspers, I have been here several times. I enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere. However, this past Sunday the customer service from the short, round, Hispanic manager and an older black, male server were deplorable. First of all, I have been here a few times and what I’ve always seen was that the high tops by the bar are self seating. I walked in and those of the high tops were empty, I knew my three other guests would join me soon. I saw the older black gentlemen cleaning one of them so I just proceeded to ask him “hey are these self seating?”. He answered begrudgingly with a low mumble “yes.” So I walk over to the bar, order a drink after a while I still see those tables empty and I’m still waiting for my other guests to arrive. So I ask the bartender are the high tops self seating she tells me yes. I’m like perfect, so I close my tab at the bar and go back to the high top. After a while my three other guests arrive and we are looking to order. Here comes the round and short manager very rudely tells us to get up his server already told me this was not self seating. He has a NASTY and deplorable attitude. We are trying to explain to him the communication issues between HIS staff members, he continues to shake his head like he didn’t want to hear it. The server comes over and with a nasty attitude and with much more base in his voice says to me “I already told you, you couldn’t sit here”. So my friend says so is that why you was just staring at us this whole time without greeting or serving us? He says YES that’s exactly why! I say to him sir why couldn’t you simply come back to me and ask me why was I sitting here and I would have told you the bartender let me know it was okay to sit here. Then the round manager proceeded to say he would get the cops on us! What?!?? We were not yelling, cussing or causing a scene and you as a Hispanic man want to threaten black people to get the police? For what? For what reason? The service from those two individuals were terrible. I’ve never encountered a staff that were petty, unprofessional and rude. Even with all their nasty attitudes we STILL managed to sit at another high top with other guests that literally confirm to us they too sat themselves! So which is it? We enjoyed serviced from another young lady and we tipped her well! That’s what is really crazy, we go to jaspers all the time, spend money and tip well. Because the older black man wanted to be rude and nasty, he lost out on what would have been a great...
Read moreDear Jaspers Management,
I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received on Friday, October 4, 2024, at your location at 9460 Lottsford Ct., Largo, MD 20774. My server for the evening was named Courtney, and the experience I had with her was unacceptable.
Initially, I was seated at a table with two of my friends, and after dining, I closed out my bill of $33.75 and left a $6.00 tip, bringing my total to $39.75. I signed both the merchant and customer copies of the receipt and handed Courtney her copy. Shortly after, I moved to the bar to continue spending time with my friends as space had opened up. I started a new tab at the bar.
However, Courtney approached me at the bar and, in a loud and accusatory manner, claimed I had not paid my previous bill. She had the signed merchant copy of the receipt in her hand, yet continued to publicly accuse me of not settling my bill. This situation caused me significant embarrassment in front of other patrons, despite the fact that I provided both my signed customer copy of the receipt and showed her proof of payment through my Navy Federal banking app.
Even after all of this, she insisted that she could not see the payment, which I pointed out was an issue on her end, not mine. I refused to give her my card again, as the bill had already been paid. It was only after she brought the manager over that the situation was clarified as a mistake on your establishment’s side. While the manager apologized for the confusion, Courtney never offered an apology for her unprofessional behavior or for the public embarrassment she caused me.
This experience left me feeling extremely disrespected and frustrated. I expect a higher standard of service, and I do not believe Courtney should remain in a position where customer service is paramount. She should be reminded that it is customers like myself who allow her to have this job in the first place. I request that this issue be addressed appropriately to ensure no other customer has to endure a similar situation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the steps you will take to...
