First time here. Recommended by a friend. First impression, no one seats you so you seat yourself. Took 4 min. To be acknowledged after I got up and went to the waitress station to ask for a menu. Two tables that came in after me got menus and drinks before we did. Finally got the menus and the waitress came back after getting drinks and asked if we were ready to order. Told her not yet just got the menus. They have no apparent system for handling their business. There was a party in one of the rooms and I saw several people come out looking for a waitress. 10 min.later waitress came back and I was ordering a pulled pork sandwich. I was told they just ran out of pulled pork. That is what I wanted and hadn't chosen an option 2. So, I ordered a cheese burger since I couldn't get what I wanted. The wait staff are less friendly. Not pleasant or here to make your experience here memorable and you look forward to coming back. There doesn't appear to be anyone in charge. I waitressed for many years before becoming a nurse. Your business begins and ends with your staff. If the service is underwhelming my experience so far is unimpressed. The dining area is boring and colorless. Nothing to make you feel at home. I will show my age here but the waitresses are dressed in shorts and sleeveless tops. Tattoos all over. Not professional looking at all. I haven't even seen any of them smile or talk to customers. The food better be outstanding or I won't be back. There is so much potential for this place. They have beautiful outdoor seating. A nice soft music in the background might be good. I can literally tune into several tables conversations because it's so quiet. The two tables that came in after us have their food. We are still waiting. It's been over a half hour since we got here. Food just came out. I ordered bacon, lettuce and pickles I got cheese burger with tomato and they informed me after I was served my burger that they have no bacon. My mother ordered the meatloaf sandwich and I went to cut it, turned it over and it was cremated on the bottom. Needless to say I sent the food back and we left. Would not recommend this place at all. How disappointing. So much potential and no effort to make it a welcoming place. Btw they charged us for our ice teas which we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI feel like the term "speakeasy" within my generation carries too much of a hipster vibe, and this place definitely doesn't have that. But speakeasy, in its true definition, a hideaway; someplace hard to find, etc is exactly what you get from The Breakroom Bar and Grill.
I just moved to the area about a month ago, and starting working right down the street. A colleague brought me here on my first day; a Monday, which I soon learned was the best day to dine here for lunch.
When we pulled in, I never in my wildest dreams would have thought there was a restaurant here. They are located on the first floor of an office building, in the back right corner, with a shared parking lot. You truly don't know that it is there until you are walking up to the door, shroud in brick.
When you first walk through the door, there are tables and booths on the left side, for your dining pleasure, and a conference dining setting on the right, likely utilized by the office by which the restaurant is a part of. The bar is in the back left, and for any of you living the working man's dream like I am, the bar is where we were headed on a Monday at 11am.
After plopping down at the bar, we were greeted by a friendly bartender, Lance, asking to help us.
Quick note Monday is colloquially named "Burrito's and Tito's"
And we're back. $5 Burritos and $5 Tito's. I'm not sure there are any better pairings in the world though Jack and Coke is close, like a cigarette and a coffee.
They drop off a burrito card and a pen, and I proceeded to custom order exactly what I was looking for, from protein, to starch, to veggies, hot sauces, and their "homemade" spicy sour cream. My esophagus be damned; the whole thing was hot as hell. The food comes out, and much to my chagrin, as I plopped down when I sat down, the burrito makes a thunderous crash on the bar, this thing is gargantuan.
If you need a new place for lunch on Mondays, hair of the dog from the weekend, this is the place. And if your colleagues are meeting you there, make sure you send them the address, otherwise they will never find the place and this is one place they definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreInteresting and unassuming place. Not a fan of the environment as it just feels like a combination dive-bar and old worn out restaurant in an old office building that seen better days. This vibe though is not reflective of the food though. As the food is a step above the vibe.
Once arriving, sat ourself per the sign. It took about 25 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, yet we were only 1 of 3 tables there at the time. We were about to leave, but then got acknowledged just in time and our order was taken. 30 minutes later with empty drinks and no food arriving yet we were about to just leave again. It appeared there was no saving this experience.
That's when things finally got better. A different server apologized and took our order since somehow our order was never sent to the kitchen. That saved the day with great service from that point onward. So now, onto the food...
All the food from the salad to the jambalaya was made fresh. The food overall is definitely a step above the sub-par feel of the restaurant itself. This place is worth a try if in the area and seeking fresh food. And to my surprise. The crab cakes. Those were the highlight. Simply the best crab cakes I had in...
